TheCommunistDoge Posted Monday at 11:02 PM Posted Monday at 11:02 PM I feel like we're missing modern medium utility/cargo helicopters. Troop transport, CSAR, SAR, Maritime patrol, and even more civilian type operations like HEMS, Police work, Firefighting (?). The Huey and Hip fill the role, but are better suited for an early cold war/vietnam era. The UH-60 mod currently fills this niche a bit, but given the large variety of helis in use today, why are we limited to these 3? Would anyone else be intrested in some modern versatile multirole helis? I'm thinking something like: EC-135/145 AW-139 AW-109 AS365 H225 NH-90 Modern Hueys I know many of these have civilian variants with extensive documentation available, while others are obviously more classified (NH-90 my beloved), but I feel like we're missing on a lot of really interesting operations right now.
upyr1 Posted Tuesday at 12:58 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:58 PM (edited) The next question is which would you like to fly? In my view when it comes to adding missing AI assets the main focus should be equipment that have had longest service lives then just enough variants that you can get a reasonable career highlight reel. For example there might be 3 or 4 Hueys depending on how visually differnt they are since you could divide into 3 or 4 generations Using the 3-generation count Classic Vietnam era- the last one is the H, which is flyable The Twin Hueys - 1970s/80s/90s Super Hueys- which would be the modern ones. TheCommunistDoge Posted Tuesday at 09:31 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 09:31 PM Surely the Huey has many variants that would cover a larger period. Starting from the -H we have, maybe the -N and -Y version would add a lot of different mission capabilities. Then we have the puma, with a service history ranging from the 1970s (AS332 Super Puma) 1990s (H225M). Unfortunately the AW-139 is fairly modern, as is the H135 (1995). I still think that given the variety of nato assets for the early 2000s any of these helis will fit quite nicely in the game, especially in multiplayer servers that feature logistics, troop insertion to capture objectives and CSAR. Unfortunately i'm nowere near good enough to try and code or model any of them.
Logan54 Posted yesterday at 02:21 AM Posted yesterday at 02:21 AM +1 for NH-90 Especially for ASW version
