Hello

I think i played mission 2 15 times meanwhile and i never get a hit on the SA-2.

I tried everything possible. My wingmen are shot out of the sky and myself too.

My Shrikes are always hitting the dirt before hitting the SA-2 regardless at what distance i'm shooting at and regardless how good the signal is.

This is soooo frustrating.

I'm really fed up with this!!

What am i doing wrong??

I've also struggled to hit with Shrikes on this mission. I have been able to take out the SA-2 with guns, but have gotten killed by AAA to get close enough. The briefing makes it sound like success is not assured, so perhaps it's programmed to make the missiles unlikely to hit.

I think you should review your expectations. Weaseling in the F4 in the 80s with shrikes was not a very smooth exerience I think. The main purpose of ARM allways was to supress the SAM not destroy it. As soon as the SA2 shuts down its radar the shrike will end up in the dust but also has acomplished its mission. I don´t remeber this mission in particular, but maybe I will refly it soon and see if I can tell you more about my aproach. In general you want to make the SA2 focus on you and make it breaking lock by sending the shrike. Going defensive after the shot. And doing this again while your Wingman or any other dedicated DEAD fligth would throw some bombs on them. But the second best outcome is to get home alive without distroying the SAM. And since it is a red flag campaign every result is accepted, so mayby just skip to mission 3. There will be more satisfying sorties I promise.

I've done quite a bit of practice with Shrikes. Looking at the mission again, my feeling is that the attack profile itself isn't that likely to get hits. The Shrike really needs to come in at a steep angle to have the best chance of hitting. A popup attack like in this scenario really needs to get pretty high to get a reasonable angle.

I also agree that the Shrike is a fairly limited weapon! And that one real benefit of this campaign is that we can take a training lesson and progress.
