Hofftari Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) When cold starting the Viper, there is a hatch that is usually opened when you fire the gun and only when you fire the gun, but this is both open from a cold start and stays open until you activate Dogfight-mode with master arm on (it doesn't close if master arm is off and you switch to DF-mode or if you switch to DF-mode with master arm while weight-on-wheels). After getting up in the air and doing this procedure of going DF-mode with master arm on, the hatch will behave correctly, but never before that. I have attached a track where I demonstrate this, both on the ground and after takeoff. Tholozor Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) The F-16 doesn't eject spent casings, it holds them in the magazine as ballast weight. That port is for venting gun exhaust gas. Do you have any mods installed? I can't check the track at work. Hofftari Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Ah, I wasn't aware of the exact function of that hatch, but in any case, the hatch is still stuck in open position. And I have no mods installed. Edited 3 hours ago by Hofftari Proud member of Master Arms, a Swedish DCS community
Delta134 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Good catch. Judging from from F-16 startup videos on YouTube (like this one and this one), the hatch is actually supposed to be open on a cold start. As soon as the engine is spooled up (and presumably the hydraulics come online) the hatch can be seen closing. Right now in DCS, it doesn't. I am also able to repeat to get the hatch to close by selecting the gun (either dogfight mode or A-G gun strafe mode) and having master arm on. Edited 1 hour ago by Delta134
