Trying for the first time

under not idea conditions.. but playing online since that's the only thing that will work for me after getting what i thought was everything running I went to try and take off and I got the rotor warning alarm going off. Something I must of missed but I can't figure it out..

 

It's the little caution light in the upper left of the cockpit

The caution light with a repeated warning tone? Check the throttle-settings to the lower left. There are 2 levers with yellow grips. Be sure they are in the middle position before you take off. You can move them up from idle position to normal operation mode by pressing "Page Up" 2 times.

Another analysis you can do is to find the rotor RPM gauge. It has marks for where it's supposed to be. If it's below that, your engines are not fed enough juice to keep the rotors spinning at the desired speed. (Or you are requesting an angle-of-attack on the blades through collective that the engines cannot sustain.)

And that will be because of the yellow rotor handles right? i swear it was already in the auto position but maybe I was wrong because I moved it up one from where it was and i got a rotor overspeed audio warning.

The throttle goes aup and down to 4 (?) differnet positions...

Idle, Low, Auto and Emergency.

 

Emergency would only be used if 1 of your 2 engines cut out.

 

The most likley cause of the RPM low warning is if you pul too hard on the collective with a full load and with no forward movement.

 

Even though helicopters can go straight up and down, it is not efficient to do it.... you should try to roll forward during your takeoff and gradually raise the collective.

This way your lift is optimised.

 

If you just yank on the collective with a full weapons and fuel load, you can definately slow the rotor speed down to "warning" levels.

yep, or you can allways jump onto one of the training servers and ask on teamspeak / vent

you may have RPM govenor on 'low", That will trigger the warning light you mention. RALT kp+ and kp- keys
