I’m looking for ideas on mounting a FFB base to a chair. I don’t have the space for a full simpit, so my HOTAS is currently attached directly to an office chair. Since FFB bases are much heavier than regular sticks, I’m not sure chair-mounting is practical. I’d like to hear how others have set up their FFB bases in non-simpit setups (especially where gear is mounted to a chair).

Are you think side by side, or to the front of the chair?

Aapje's suggestion is a great suggestion, as it'll be easier to create a solid solution with a table.

If you want something mounted directly to a chair, go have a look at the Monstertech mounts.  IMO, they're the best that I'm aware of, and amongst their options, there's a chair based mount that looks like it would fit the bill.

I have my Rhino mounted using the default centre-mount from MonsterTech.

That being said, the base is indeed heavy so for a while I used a simple and small but sturdy cardboard box (about 10cm x 10cm x 15cm) as support between the base and the floor.

It is completely unnecessary however, as the Monstertech mount by itself is more than sturdy enough and it rests on the floor on the height-adjustable part:

I was hoping to do to the chair, but not sure how practical it is. I can see what you mean though - a solid solution would be better. I do have some monstertech mounts already, so will keep that in mind, thanks.

Thanks. That's encouraging to hear. My chair is on rollers, and swivels so I can get in/out of the room/area. (not a lot of room), so to know that monster mount would be suitable in this instance is quite encouraging. Thanks! However my chair doesn't have the indent yours does, so will be interesting to see if I could get it to work with my setup.

Thanks for the replies -that does indeed help me understand more of the possibilities!

Someone on YouTube cut off a part of the mounting plate to get the pivot point of the Rhino closer: it’s one of the downsides that the Rhino is a bit too far away by default, and the reason I use that Z-extension.

The chair is a Monstertech MFC-1, the first iteration so perhaps later versions fixed some of the issues. Also, I checked their website and they seem to have a newer version of the Rhino mounting plate too which allows for some adjustments.
