I want advice on switching to virtual reality.

Good morning. I intend to try playing DCS World in virtual reality and I want to buy a 128GB Meta Quest 3 Super headset or more memory if necessary. My system is a PC with an i7 4790K processor, 32GB RAM, an 8GB RTX3070Ti GPU, and a 27-inch AOC 4K monitor. Would it be possible to play with a visual level and performance of at least 40fps, or on the contrary, is the equipment insufficient and visually it would be bad and wouldn't it be worth switching to virtual reality without changing my equipment? Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me any ideas on this.

your experience will be poor at best, your processor is going to hold you up, your GPU has only 8Gb of RAM thats going to lead to stuttering in many VR scenarios... I would stick with 2D for now ... now i'm not an expert on the quest but search engine tells me that you can either run at 90 or 120 so if you use ASW that will be either 45 or 60FPS as your target consistent FPS not 40.

to give you an example if you are able to get at least 180fps out of a resolution equivalent out of running a monitor in DCS at 2048 x 1024 at your current settings that would be the equivalent of running at the Q3's native resolution of 2064 x 2208 per eye (so x 2), at 45fps ... that's best case.

edit just read you are running a 4k monitor at present ..  so broadly your 4k experience will be about 80-90%with vsynch disabled what you would get in a Q3 headset ... but i still think your processor is going to disable your experience... i started with a 6600k and performance target of 45 ... which i was able to get with very compromised settings
