Aries144 Posted Thursday at 08:14 PM Posted Thursday at 08:14 PM The AIM-9G, AIM-9H, and AIM-7E4 are notably missing from the missiles available for the early F-14. These are important for scenarios taking place in the 1970s. The AIM-9G and AIM-9H are particularly important, as these would provide a rear-aspect-only heatseeking missile for the F-14 for mission designers. The AIM-9G and AIM-9H would also be useful for other US Navy fighter aircraft that served in the 1970s, such as the A-6E and A-7E which are in various stages of development for DCS. 5

The USAF went with the AIM-9E instead of just following the Navy's lead. When the HB F-4J or F-4S releases I assume the Navy versions of the Sidewinder will be included... and they will also be needed for the F-8J Crusader. 2 Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills. If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck! "If at first you don't succeed, Carrier Landings are not for you!"
