Snacko Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I built a 20 mission campaign called When Hogs Fly for Lockon, but for the life of me, I cannot get a stupid ai aircraft to attack a ground target in this game. It's starting to piss me off, as I am wasting a lot of time to do something very simple. One AI Aircraft bombing One Static Target!? Apparently this is rocket science... :helpsmilie: I have read the GUI Manual and done what it says to do, but I must be missing something or this just ridiculous! I have set the Task to Ground Attack and also Pinpoint Attack, with no joy. I have tried several Aircraft with different payloads, with no joy. I have changed the altitude of the waypoints, with no joy. Yes, I have a friendly attacking an Insurgent object. The object is an Ammo Dump (they blow up so beautifully) I have put a Target Point almost on top of the ammo dump. I have set the Target Category to Static Object, with no joy. I have set it to Buildings, with no joy. I have set it to both Static Objects and Buildings, with no joy. I have set the waypoint to Flyover, with no joy. And I have tried several other things (except for beating the Ammo Dump with a stick), with no joy. I just want some joy, please. Help! I tried tweaking another mission I downloaded a few weeks ago to do the same thing, with no joy. So, I gave up then. Why don't they put some frigg'in edits in the Editor to check if your settings are simply not going to work, if they are going to make it this hard? Instead of putting 'Important Notes' in the manual saying why it won't work. Snacko Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 I'm not sure why, but some Mod has moved this from the BlackShark forum to the Lockon Help Desk forum. Can you move it back to some BlackShark Help form please? GGTharos Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Sounds like you're doing something with LOFC, not Black Shark. Also, how about including the mission? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Snacko Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 Thanks. Attached is the mission. I just started it today, so there is not much to it. MrReynolds Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 1) Moved the IP just west of Kelevi. (THE IP WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE TARGET) 2) Sped up WP2 (IP) to 500. 1st time I ran it the 300 speed at the IP made the plane loop round, speed up and then attack. 2nd time the speed was sufficient to make a straight in attack. I didn't this time, but normally I would add a WP so that the flight overflys the target. Even though I didn't, the attack was still a success. One last thing, I increased the altitude to 1500. I don't think this matters as the Su dove in during its attack run. Simples.

You moved it waypoint West? Is there a problem with flying directly at a target? Maybe it cannot see a target below it's nose, even though it flys right over it? Is there a good thread on this kind of stuff somewhere? I read somewhere a few weeks ago that the ac will not even try to attack if it does not fly into the target circle. Also, I read somewhere in the manual to make a target circle very small sometimes to have it attack a specific target. So, that is a little confusing. I also read something about the aircraft sensors being able to detect the target or not. So, do I need to know the specifications of every aircraft's sensors and systems to do this? Will this cause me problems if I don't know all that stuff? Thanks for your help, and sorry for asking such stupid questions. I find this a little like the Trimmer, a little confusing. But I finally figured the Trimmer out. :joystick: Snacko Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download
MrReynolds Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Just moved the WP north. Well i'm in your boat at the moment. My brain is frazzled with targeting. Trying to get a 4 ship to airbase attack without turning round to re-aquire it...... Will post more tomorrow, but let's just say whilst editing a big mission I ended up deleting it.....2 hours wasted :music_whistling: 50/50 between punching the monitor and crying.....ended up slumped shoulders and re-doing it. Still not happy. The only thing worse than work is doing the work all over again!!!
