DmitriKozlowsky Posted Thursday at 10:58 PM Posted Thursday at 10:58 PM How does one get CPG to use FCR for search?
AJH63 Posted yesterday at 03:41 AM Posted yesterday at 03:41 AM Hi DmitriKozlowsky, I asked that question in the Wishlist in July and it doesn't seem like you can get George to do a search using the FCR. Cheers
DmitriKozlowsky Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago So the SOP , then. Is for pilot player to burst scan FCR, then que AI George to FCR scan zone. Pilot may be PIC, but CPG is the mission commander (often), per SOP and as mission. That means pilot is driver, the chauffer. The CPG is WSO, the sensor operator. He or she runs the sensors, picks targets, often engages. Pilot is too busy scanning for threats and avoiding trees and dirt.

While this can all be true, this doesn't change that there's no current way to command George to use the FCR. 1
ED Team Raptor9 Posted 12 hours ago ED Team Posted 12 hours ago There is no intention to have George actually perform FCR scans himself. This would significantly complicate the George AI interface, and it would take two or three times as long for players to tell George where to scan, how to scan, and how to sort through FCR targets, versus just performing the FCR scan themselves. However, there are multiple search options described in the DCS AH-64D manual in which George can use the FCR target data obtained by the pilot or received through the datalink to track or engage targets with the TADS. As for it being SOP that the CPG uses the FCR while the pilot simply drives him around, this is not true. Often times the crew will deliberately divide up the sensors between the crewstations to maximize how quickly they can develop the situation, and since only the CPG can use the TADS as a sight, the pilot will typically assist with the reconnaissance or targeting process using the FCR. If the pilot is too busy doing other things, then yes, the CPG will need to be the one that is employing the FCR or TADS one at a time; just as the pilot may take over some cockpit duties from the CPG if the CPG gets too busy. But more often then not, the pilot will be maintaining an overview of the battlespace with the FCR and highlighting target positions for subsequent observation by the CPG with the TADS. 1 1 Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man.
