Hello everyone! When I make an A-G mission in the F-18 with GBU-12s or any other GBU, I enter the correct laser code, get the correct target waypoint, fuse my bombs and all that stuff, and then I switch to AUTO mode turn on the TGP and it does not home to the target, it just looks into something completely different!? And I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! 😁

Are you arming the laser designator down to the right near the TGP switch? It is labelled LTD/R. After every AUTO laser designation drop, it will flick itself off. So you will need to re-arm it before you next and subsequent drops.
Cheers!

I think I have an Idea why it might be happening! I'll see if my idea works! And how do you fire the Laser?

Or if you leave it on AUTO it will fire the laser automatically (as long as laser is armed each time as Scotch75 said above).

More likely, did you set the laser code on the bomb itself on the ground in the rearm/refuel menu?  You can't change the code on the bomb in the air.  You can change the code in the Stores page, but that's strictly for reference since what the bomb is looking for is physically changed on the bomb (so has to be done on the ground).  Also check that you changed to the correct code to fire in the ATFLIR or LITENING pod page (as appropriate).

Thanks! And how do you turn on the TGP? Last time I could do it but when I tried now I couldn't!? Thanks for all the help! 😁

1st check the stores page that you actually have pod equipped on your plane.  You should only need to flip the FLIR switch to the right of the seat to ON (and then wait for it  to warm up (time out)).

Thanks so much! I forgot to add the Litening Pod! 🤣

The TGP naturally uses the 1688 code, and for the bomb I just use the same number, 'cause I can't seem to find the code on any of the store pages, where I can change it on other planes!? And the TGP still doesn't look at the target! It's just freely moving around! And even when I'm in auto mode it just uses the CCIP bomb aimer! And I put the aircrafts 1st waypoint right spot on the target (in mission editor) but do I have to do anything with it in the plane? Thanks! 😁

That's a lot of questions and without any offence it seems you'll have to learn some basic procedures.

The lasercode for the bomb has to be set either in the mission editor or by the ground crew in the corresponding menue (radio) on the ground.

In the plane you can change the code on the TGP screen on the MFD.

When the weapon is in auto mode and you have the CCIP on the HUD you most likley haven't set a SPI.

If you want a WP to switch to SPI you can press WPDSG on the SA page or your HSI. Note that the WP must have the target altitude. Otherwise the TGP will look at a WP at the given hight from the mission editor. So e.g. right above the target but lets say 25000ft above.

I'd highly recommend you start to learn one system after another and one aircraft after another. Learning curve is steep for each module

Dig deep into yt videos, there are so many very good learning videos and channels. Maybe start with Wags yt channel. He explains each system without too much and overwhelming backround information.

I hope this helps and I'm not trying to be a smartass but from here it does look like you have a lot of basic questions and it would need so much text to answer all these.

Happy landings mate

Thanks! Yeah, I'll try watching some YT vids. I mastered this completely in the F-16, but the F-18 is so much different :no_sad: 🤣

HaHa! :poster_offtopic: I watched one of Wag's vids and it gave me much more clarity, but when he looked around on his TGP, when he was looking for a target to designate with TDC depress, how did he move the view around? Because for me it just moves with the plane! And I don't know what control to use to do it!? Thanks for he help! 😁 Sorry about how clueless I am! 🤣

Because it's not obvious, to change the laser code in the rearm/refuel window on the ground you need to click on the little triangle in the top corner of that weapons box.  You'll either have to tick the box to change them all or do them each individually.

For the rest of your questions you need to read the manual (buried in the DCS/MODS/AIRCRAFT/aircraft of your choice/DOC   folder.  Note that not everything will be up to date with recent changes so if something doesn't work as described ask.

Or check out the Chuck's Guide for the aircraft you're using.

Or watch videos but there especially make sure you check the creation date because there have been a lot of significant changes in the last couple of years.

Lot's of people more than happy to help if you're having issues, but you really need to do the basic learning yourself and ask for clarification rather than asking for help to learn even the basics.
