Antix70 Posted Saturday at 02:11 AM Posted Saturday at 02:11 AM I've been running the Dedicated server software for quite awhile, the entire time the screensaver never comes on, I never attributed it to the DCS server until the other night, I closed the server to do some cleanup tasks and the screensaver came on after 5 minutes of inactivity. I did some tests; there's only two things running in terms of non-background processes; DCS and SRS Server, with MINIMAL background processes (very stripped down windows install, only left installed what's needed). With only SRS server running, the screen saver comes on after the 5 minutes. Same thing with SRS shut down. Run the DCS server, no screen saver. Close the server, 5 minutes later the screensaver comes on, start the server again, screensaver never kicks back on. Is there a way to fix this?
Maverick87Shaka Posted Saturday at 07:44 AM Posted Saturday at 07:44 AM IMHO is not a problem at all. Server itself doesn't even have the screen saver at all since, they don't have screen If you want force it, you can lock the screen before leaving the server (win+L) or manually click on screensaver file (.scr under system32) FlighRIG => CPU: RyZen 5900x | RAM: 64GB Corsair 3000Mhz | GPU: nVIDIA RTX 4090 FE | OS Storage: SSD NVMe Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, DCS Storage: SSD NVMe Sabrent 1TB | Device: Multipurpose-UFC, VirPil T-50, TM WARTHOG Throttle, TrackHat, MFD Cougar with screen. Antix70 Posted Saturday at 02:22 PM Author Posted Saturday at 02:22 PM I want the process to run the way it's designed to run, automatically. I shouldn't have to force anything, or lock a computer I want quick and easy access to. The DCS server program STOPS that process. I see you're trying to be clever and funny, but that doesn't eliminate the problem at hand.

Servers usually don't have a screen, so they don't need a screen saver, and that's why honestly I believe server app can ignore that this behavior (manage screen saver). There are other apps that do the same thing by preventing the screen saver from being activated, like OBS and others. The process itself works as expected; a screen saver on a server isn't the default behavior. If you want to change it, that's fine, but it's not the standard, and you can't complain if you have to find a workaround for it, I'm just trying to help you to find it. Actium Posted yesterday at 09:00 AM Posted yesterday at 09:00 AM The dedicated server is a stripped down version of the client that takes a few „features“ not perfectly suited for a dedicated server. I presume, the client rightfully disabled the screensaver via sth. like PowerSetRequest(). I’m not aware of a config option to disable that. Feel free to file a bug in the Multiplayer Bugs Forum section, but I doubt this will be fixed by ED. Short of intercepting the Power Management API call with an injected DLL, you’re stuck with the workarounds outlined by Maverick.
Antix70 Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago I kinda figured it was something like that, and it makes sense.
