Hello!

Ok Here I go......I already did my homework and use the forum search function but.....

Latitude correction

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms

Latitude navigation compensation

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

So I need to ask here.

Manual states:

Latitude correction. Depending on what latitude hemisphere the helicopter is operating in, this switch and knob allow the operator to adjust needed latitude navigation compensation.

Can anyone explain in simple terms whats the meaning of this...because I cant figure it out when and how to use this function

I need some examples.....

Thanks in advance

Im not sure, but the Hemisphere refers to an half of the World, either the Northern half or the Southern half. Since you will always be flying in the same place of the world in the Northern half of the hemisphere my guess is you dont need to touch this switch.

I might be completely wrong though

The view out of your windows. You'll have green grass and leafy trees in December, and snow in June...

But hey, you're in Argentina... you should know all about that!

Seriously though, where in the manual are you seeing that? That may provide an important clue. I'm at work at the moment, so I can't look it up.

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

In the manual, it is section 2-45, item 4.

I'm afraid I can't provide any meaningful insight into its use though...

I try switching opposite to default switch position and changing what looks like frequencies......but can´t notice any effect.

Maybe not implemented yet in the sim but manual doesnt state "no function" as usual.

Still wondering myself.........

There should be a switch as well as a rotary knob. The switch sets the hemisphere, north or south. The knob sets your approximate latitude. Both of these settings affect your compass system. Not the standby magnetic compass, and not any compass-type info on the ABRIS, but the gyrocompass used by the HSI and INS, etc.

I do not know if it is modeled in game, but in reality, if your actual latitude exceeds the latitude set on the corrector, then your HSI and INU will be slightly off course to the right and vice versa of closer to the equator than your latitude setting). I'm not sure how much the deviation would be, but I do know that it really isn't very much.

You could test this by messing with the setting, and seeing if your HSI heading differs from your ABRIS heading. Since the ABRIS heading comes from GPS (well, GLONASS, but you get the idea), the latitude setting will not affect its accuracy, and it should always be correct.

My guess is that it's non-functional, but don't quote me on that. It may very well be implemented in the game and I just have not messed around with it. Even on the Mi-17s I work on for real, we set it and forget it as long a we're flying out of the same airport. I shold mention that on the Mi-17 it's the GMK-1AE astrocompass, I'm not sure what the Ka-50 uses.
