Hello everyone.

I have a couple questions re: setting up controller (flight stick & throttle) preferences.

I have been doing allot of reading on this forum but continue to be curious about common button setups that people like. I have found a few setups (with images) that have much of what I like or can get used to, but there are 2 specific things I'd like to hear (preferably) experienced users comment on.

I have the X-52 Flight Control System and Pro Flight Rudder Pedals.

So far I am setting everything up within the game rather than using Saitek's Profilers (seems that is the most recommended settings unless one wants many functions via Modes).

First is the Throttle (Collective and Throttle in BS).

A real helicopter's Collective stick is Pulled Up for more power/collective. But the default "throttle" setting is set to Increase when pushed away from you.

Q: Is there a way to Reverse this axis ? so the throttle can be used like real collective stick ?

Shkval operations - Until I can get a TrackIR 5, my main Hat controls my views (which I have yet to customize).

Then the Hat beside my flip-up covered button is set (so far) that Up/Down changes the FOV of the Shkval. But then Left/Right doesn't seem to do anything.

Which is the best Hat and Buttons to use to Uncage, Lock Trgt, Pan/Slew and Zoom the Shkval ?

I realize that any/all of these settings are ultimately one's personal preference, but I am interested to hear what "recommendations" you folks might have for me ... at least to get me going until I understand all of the systems and functions better.

Thanks in advance.

Use the Joystick "Pinkie Switch" as a "MODIFIER" then you can double your buttons up. :)

With the "MODIFIER" set (pinkie switch depressed) you can use the stick Hat normally used for views for Shval slewing or zoom/target gate size (my current setup).

I use the 4-way Hat on the Throttle for slewing ShKval. On the real heli it's on the stick but I find that I'm using the stick to micro steer and it's a pain to use the Hat on stick while doing so.

Your can reverse throttle Axis in the "Axis Tune" menu. I also suggest setting a slight deadzone for the cyclic stick and adding a slight positve "s" curve for exponential (makes stick less touchy near center).

Check the BS Manual as it shows/lists the real control/button layout on the cyclic and collective, use it as a guide and modify to your tastes from there.

With the "MODIFIER" set a whole new world of possibile button setups arises. ;)

Agreed 100%!

You can map all primary functions to the non-shifted buttons and things you don't use that much on the shifted buttons. For BS enough to map most of the keys you use during flight to your X52 and make it a true HOTAS in the literal meaning.

Hello everyone.

I have a couple questions re: setting up controller ..

..

Yes, you can reverse the Axis:

- go to "options"

- "controls" tab up top

- in the right most selectio drop box, select "Axis Commands"

- select the "flight control collective" control row

- click on "Axis Tune" (bottom right)

- tick the box called "invert"

- ok

Shkval operations - Until I can get a TrackIR 5, my main Hat controls my views (which I have yet to customize).

Then the Hat beside my flip-up covered button is set (so far) that Up/Down changes the FOV of the Shkval. But then Left/Right doesn't seem to do anything.

Which is the best Hat and Buttons to use to Uncage, Lock Trgt, Pan/Slew and Zoom the Shkval ?

Thanks in advance.

I use the upper left hat as follows:

up / down - SHKVAl FOV

left / right SHKVAL Gate size

I use botton "E" on the collective to uncage and lock target

I use my primary HAT to slew shkval (as I use trackir) , but you could possibly use the front hat on the collective for the task instead (I currently use that to pan around the search light..lol).

Best of luck!

You folks ROCK.

I thank all of you very much for the very useful tips.

I will likely combine all of the tips where possible. I will certainly try all of them until I see which I like most.

Thanks for the setup file. I will check that out.

But I have to say that the use of the Pinky button as a Modifier is brilliant and will likely prove to be an excellent suggestion.

You guys (at least I trust you are all guys ?!!), have just saved me hours of fuddling around blindly.

Thanks again and remember .. "Any landing you can walk away from, is a good landing" !!
