A-10 close call:

BETTER video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPvVacN41lY&feature=related

The British soldiers are lucky that burst only got that close. The sound of the GAU-8 is awesome however.

Seems I posted this in the wrong thread.

Evil little thing isn't it ('little' - Ha!). We had a discussion about the size of it's rounds and people were getting to the conclusion that it took milk-bottle sized rounds.

I saw the A-10 at Fairford and the actual barrel diameter is fairly small (compared to what I'd expected).

Go on people flame me and talk about muzzle velocity.. I know it's very powerful (and the gun itself is huge), but the muzzles/barrels look tiny IRL.

Too many cowboys. Not enough indians.

GO APE SH*T

I've seen the A-10 up close at the airshows at nellis AFB, The barrel was about what I expected.

I have been as cles as ~100 yards to a A-10's target in training. It was AWESOME :)

Although I do not know the details of the video, if the pilot hit the target, then the FAC needs to be smacked.

IIRC, there was an incident a while back where the FAC accidentally called in the GPS coordinates of his own position. OOPS.

Bit Leaner than your Average Pint of Milk, but definitely not lacking in the Length dept.......

But you know what they say: It's not the Size that Matters, it's what you do with it.......:sly:

well 30mm round!?

in the former Yougoslavia ( war in the ... ) the most dangerous weapon in the war was

"PRAGA"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M53/59_Praga

http://oklop2.tripod.com/praga/m53.htm

it is AAA 30mm , but it is used as anti-infantry weapon, the weapon which is virtually decided the outcome of the battle

i was little boy during the war, but I saw it in action on some exercizes, and held those rounds...

the scary thing!

sorry if it is of topic, but it is 30mm round
