AlphaOneSix Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 The X2 is just a technology demonstrator, and is not meant to be produced in quantity, but to prove that the design is feasible. They still have not done any high speed trials with it, I don't think they've actually had the pusher prop providing any thrust yet either (it was engaged but no pitch in the blades). The blades are much stiffer and are not allowed to articulate much (hingeless hub) so the blades are able to be mounted on a shorter shaft.
GGTharos Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 This would make it different from the Ka-50 whose speed limit is closer to 200kts (and it becomes dangerous to fly after) - if they pull it off they'll have the fastest heli around. And I mean level speed, not any of that crazy kamikaze dive stuff ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
nscode Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Hope they do something about the sound :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
