Occasionally I don't get clearance ("C") for launching Vikrs or rockets even though everything is working properly as far as I know (playing deployment campaign). Yesterday I had it again, I did not get any clearance for launching Vikrs on a range of 7.7. When I got in closer to about 5.5 I suddenly was able to launch them. When I was out of Vikrs I went to my rockets, but somehow I was never able to launch a single one of them (cannon not selected). I had this happen to me before during the shooting range mission.

All weapon systems are up, laser is on, master arm is on, vikrs are selected, target is locked on shkval, 2 hud circles are on top of each other but no clearance to shoot. Same with rockets. In the past 11 missions I had no problem employing weapons.

Any thing I could look for if this happens another time? Because it's a real pain not able to launch the wonderful ammo under your wings!

if you have been flying and targetting for long periods of time (ie. if you have returned to base to re-arm), it is possible for you to have burnt the targetting/range laser out....use the laser less...try turning the laser to "off" between engagements, so that if you are using the shkval to search for targets, you are not also constantly firing the laser...when you have a target, turn the laser back to standby and get a range.

The nominal range for VHIKRS is 7km. If you want to fire above that range you have to switch weapon controls from auto to manual. You can then engage targets up to 10km, but the chance of hits may decrease.

I see, usually I turn on the laser before leaving the base. Didn't knew that could hurt!

I thought the range was 8km, must have misread the manual. I'll look into the auto/manual switch, I must say I completely forgot there was also a manual setting

You didn't - it is 8km - but it's basically the same as with most missiles used in LockOn: maximum range and maneuver engagenemt range. ;)

And as in LO, you can override and/or fire at maximum range, but you may find that the range is not enough when the targets turn or odds turn against you. Same is for this, I guess. You can still fire them in manual mode.

It mostly depends on how many times you use the laser rangefinder. I was told that there is a maximum of 60 "shots", and after that the laser will burn out. The only thing you can do when it happens is to get your Kamov fixed after 3 or 4 minutes landed and with your engines turned off.

With 1.0 version you will have to turn off Master Arm an Laser Rangefinder. If you don´t you'll have a faster burn out. This does not happen any more with 1.0.1 version.
