ZoomBoy27 Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I'm polishing up a fairly large campaign - called Foothills (mainly using the Krysmk airbase) and have a number of night missions. How fair is it to have IR SAMs(Iglas & Strelas) at night. I usually don't have them at all but was considering adding them. Or if I have them, what sort of rules would I use? Mark them on the map? as if I have Intel or ID them in the HUD as if there are Forward Observers or Special Ops guys spotting directly??(I use friendly Igla symbols) Let me know your thoughts. GGTharos Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 MANPAD guys have troubles seeing in the night - so activate them only if the player flies nearby - like within 0.5km. Don't have too many, a few combines with a random selection of which one may appear will be quite enough trouble. thaFunkster Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Zoomboy, can I ask you a question? You obviously know how to use the editor..How do I place a player, or a Blue unit on the map. Whenever I select USA or others as Blue, then the only units I seem to be able to place on the map are Red... Funk on YouTube!
159th_Viper Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 .....so activate them only if the player flies nearby......a few combines with a random selection of which one may appear...... Probably gonna be clubbed for asking the obvious here, but can one do this in LockOn? :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Case Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Let me be constructive as well... How fair is it to have IR SAMs(Iglas & Strelas) at night. I usually don't have them at all but was considering adding them. Or if I have them, what sort of rules would I use? Mark them on the map? as if I have Intel or ID them in the HUD as if there are Forward Observers or Special Ops guys spotting directly??(I use friendly Igla symbols)If you have the player flying with an AI wingman, the wingman will probably scream 'missile launch 12 o'clock' regardless if he can see it or not. Otherwise you may want to decide to not put any IR SAMs in, because it will just suck for the player to die without any warning or chance to see the missile. In fact in real life I wouldn't expect a chopper pilot to fly into an area known to have MANPADs at night. Better to stick to AAA instead, which will stick out like a sore thumb at night. There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
