Now there is a certain movement in RU to open up the production lines for the An-124. Well done, the markets & services need that kind of a/c badly.

As unbelieveable as it sounds even the An-70 will come back alive. These guys over there made some promising decisions.

"They say", there is no comparison between the An-70 and the A400M...

we'll see!

After one year, the Italian safety agency for the aviation (ANSV) has released the final report for the incident occurred at the turin airport

http://www.ansv.it/cgi-bin/ita/racc%20%20sicurezza%20inchiesta%20RA-82079.pdf (english)

Engine inspection has found cracking of the 5th stage of the high pressure compressor that induced fatigue phenomena on the 6th stage, and with one blade missing.

The engine designer knew the problem and the solution was to introduce a modification at the moment of the overhaul, but this action is considered not sufficient by italian authorities

Now there seems to be some kind of activity to start the program for the new series of the An-124 Ruslan heavy lifter. After almost 2 years of negotiations these companies have good plans to built a more technical advanced aircraft.

Let's see what a partnership of Russia and the Ukraine will create in the coming years.

AN-124 at Ontario, CA Airport KONT

I spotted an AN-124 at Riverside County's Ontario (KONT) airport. It seems the huge cargo planes park there in between jobs. I have attached a picture.

According to the attached link Russian & Ukrainian airlines "Volga-Dnepr" won the tender for strategic air support for NATO (SALIS program):

http://www.ruaviation.com/news/2012/7/10/1099/

That means they need more new An-124-500 a/c.
