Hi guys,

 

Since the patch groundunits won't pass bridges anymore if the bridge was hit by a single bullit. The bridge have no scratch, nothing! But the groundunits won't pass it anymore.

 

Please fix it ED.

Try my mission "Rookie Terrorists".

You have to clear some bridges from enemy units in a canyon.

Meanwhile some convoys (suicide-trucks) are moving along the road. (from the camp to your FARP)

But if you have cleared a bridge the trucks won't pass it anymore.

It looks like the blast of the exloding units have "damaged" the bridge or a bullit have hit the bridge.

You can't see the damage but the convoys won't pass it anymore.

 

If you start the mission without clearing a bridge the convoy will pass all the bridges and blow up your FARP.

Not Entirely Correct.

 

It may be that the Bridges have a specific 'Hit-Point' that, when reached, render them Inoperable. Said scenario is obviously entirely probable.

 

Be that as it may, I ran a scenario where there are 2 M270 MRLS and 2 HEMTT M978 Tankers in close proximity to a Bridge. All four are Tanked to ensure Maximum Collateral Damage and the Bridge additionally strafed with approx 80 HE Rounds. The Convoy then enters the Bridge and it's Strafed with the remaining HE and AP Rounds. Convoy proceeds regardless.

Might be that your Mission just needs tweaking to move the Ground Units a bit further from the Bridge if it is indeed the 'Hit-Point' that is exceeded. It does however seem to take a helluva lot to render the Bridge Inoperable.

I think it is a bug that a ground unit don't want to cross a bridge if the bridge is not destroyed.

A missiondesigner have no chance to force the units to cross the river if the unit won't cross the bridge.

You are sitting in front of your monitor and won't belief that the unit don't want to cross the bridge which looks intact. :huh:

 

So I think ED have to fix a new but...

I don't want that ED render the bridge inoperable. In my point of view the bridges can be indestructible.

I only want that ground units pass the bridges if the bridge is not collapsed / destroyed.

But they Do.

 

My Track clearly Illustrates the Point: 4 Major Explosions in Close Proximity to a Bridge and then Emptying my entire Allowance of HE/AP Rounds into the Bridge and still the Ground Units Pass over the Bridge, even though the Bridge is not Collapsed/Destroyed.

 

Where's the Problem? Clearly not with the Bridge :)

If it works for you then you are a lucky boy.

 

I tested it many times when I created Rookie Terrorists.

Please connect to my server, choose the mission and play it.

The last waypoint of the trucks is at your FARP. If you only watch the szenario (you have to fly into the target area to trigger the trucks) and don't kill any units the trucks will drive to your FARP and blow it up.

If you attack the enemys at the bridges the trucks will stop right in front of the bridge.

 

 

Edit: What bridge do you use? The same as I in Rookie Terrorists?

Maybe it belongs to the bridge ?

I downloaded your Mission-Pack and loaded The Rookie-Terrorists mission. Spooled Up, took off and RTB'd the Klingons. Proceeded to 1st Bridge (WP4) and Stumbled across the Insurgent Camp....

 

Levelled the Entire Camp, landed and waited for the Truck to arrive........As you said, the Truck refused to cross the Bridge.

 

Take #2:

 

Spooled Up, took off and RTB'd the Klingons. Proceeded to 1st Bridge (WP4) and Stumbled across the Insurgent Camp....

 

Tagged 4 Ground Units, a Tent for Good Measure and thereafter Strafed the Bridge with my Entire Compliment of AP Rounds.......

As I said - In all probability a 'Hit-Point' for the Bridge that has been exceeded. Stands to reason that if you level the entire Camp then the attendant Collateral Damage might very well render the Bridge Inoperable - Entirely Plausible! As for ED actually attending to add 'Damage-Modelling' to Bridges, well, would be nice, would'nt it? Somehow I do not think it will happen soon though........

 

As for the behaviour experienced being a Bug and in need of Fixing......IMO Not :)

So please ED:

Remove the invisible damage model of the bridges!

Please let the groundunits move across the bridges if the bridges are not collapsed/destroyed.

 

This is one of my very important points.

You know the Counter-Argument here, don't you ;)

 

In a given scenario (for example the Insurgent Camp) where the entire Camp is levelled it would be unrealistic to assume that the Bridges are in certain instances still capable of carrying traffic.......:)

:) Yes but.... understand me:

 

I spend a lot of time to add the waypoints through the FARP that it looks like the trucks blow up the structures on the FARP.

I added a lot of triggers and triggerzones to explode the trucks if there arrived on the exact place on the FARP.

I tested it by set the trucks right in front of the FARP. (So I don't have to wait the whole time).

It is a very very imressive moment if the trucks blow up your FARP.

Your supplies are destroyed. This is a tactical isue.

 

Now the mission is running and I see: The trucks won't cross the bridges! They never will arrive the FARP.... :doh:

Move the Units that protect the Bridge away a wee bit so that the Secondary Explosions do not 'Damage' the Bridge and render it unusable.

A friend (squadron member) have an other problem with bridges:

 

Download#1 - unit pass the bridge:

*removed*

 

Download#2 - unit don't pass the bridge:

*removed*

 

 

No shooting, no damage of the bridge. The only difference between the two missions is range of the waypoint to the bridge.
