ViperVJG73 Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Installed the 76.50 drivers and the Lock On profile in that one is set to Single GPU also. Forced it to AFR SLI mode and same results as before. Eric Here are the Single GPU Intercpet FPS 1600x1200 no AA/AF Avg: 40.540 - Min: 11 - Max: 84 1600x1200 4AA/8AF Avg: 23.697 - Min: 8 - Max: 77 SLI works with LOMAC and 71.84 Driver very fine! ;) Best Regards Viper System: Intel Core i7-4790, 3,6GHz, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 2TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5, TM HOTAS Warthog;(MSFFB2 for testing); TrackIR4 +Track Clip Pro; Windows 10 Pro.
Nate Dogg Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 care to share your results with us Viper VJG73? cheers
ViperVJG73 Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 care to share your results with us Viper VJG73? cheers You may not take any leaked driver from Guru3D. You only need to the official NVIDIA driver use. There are 67.66, 71.84 and new the 71.89. All other drivers make problems with SLI. Thereto load it coolbits2.reg into your registration of WindowsXP. Then can set to GlobalDriverSettings with Alternate Framerendering for LOMAC! greetings Best Regards Viper System: Intel Core i7-4790, 3,6GHz, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 2TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5, TM HOTAS Warthog;(MSFFB2 for testing); TrackIR4 +Track Clip Pro; Windows 10 Pro.
Nate Dogg Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Ok so we should get the 71.84/71.89 drivers and install then install coolbits2.reg then set the lock on profile to AFR. Sounds like something to give a go eric963. Here is a link to coolbits2 from guru3d. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=815 cheers
eric963 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Ok, I did a fresh Win Xp Pro install with Service Pack 2. Using the Nvidia 71.89 drivers with the most recent version of FRAPS. All tests were done at 1600x1200 using the Mig Intercept. AMD 64 4000+, 2 6800GT's, 2megs ram. Single GPU no AA/AF Avg: 53.338 - Min: 13 - Max: 110 SLI AFR Mode no AA/AF Avg: 29.162 - Min: 8 - Max: 75 SLI AFR2 Mode no AA/AF Avg: 41.194 - Min: 8 - Max: 106 Single GPU at 4AA/8AF Avg: 32.475 - Min: 8 - Max: 109 SLI AFR Mode at 4AA/8AF Avg: 17.330 - Min: 7 - Max: 64 SLI AFR2 Mode at 4AA/8AF Avg: 25.350 - Min: 7 - Max: 108 So as it stands on my SLI system the Single GPU is faster then SLI. Hope to have Lock On 1.1 soon and will test some more then. If any other people have SLI setups please post what your getting. Eric
Nate Dogg Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Wow that sucks, did you use the coolbits reg file? i wonder how viper got his working? And i wonder how the reviews got better results with older drivers. I assume sli is working in other games alright?
eric963 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Yep, you have to use coolbits to enable the othe SLI modes. Lets see if anyone else can post some scores. And yes, the machine screams in the other SLI supported games I run.
firesoldier845 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 man that's dissappointing with the SLI setup - I'm probably going to wait till June or July and pick up the newest from ATI or Nvidia. I was really hoping I could get a couple of 6800GTs and be happy NOW instead of waiting a few more months. Oh well, I'll have more money saved by then and there will be new faster goodies for less. cheers
Nate Dogg Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 It seems that viper with his dual Gt's got sli working and is happy with it, so im a bit confused. It is quite possible that eric isn't having much luck because the profile for lock on is missing?? I don't know. Just doesn't make sense that one person can get it running fine but another can't?? Hopefully the next official driver release does us proud. cheers
eric963 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 The default Lock On profile is there but by default it is set to single GPU. You use coolbits and create another profile where you have SLI enabled.
Nate Dogg Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 oh cool, i just stole my brothers gt so im giving it a go now. ill be back
eric963 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 I'll be waiting. I sure hope there is not something screwy with my setup.
Guest Cali Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Hopefully SLI isn't a BIG WASTE of money for you guys!
Nate Dogg Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Well luckly for you it isn't your set up. After stuffing around for ages trying to find why my computer was shutting down after a few minutes i got some interesting results. I tested 1.1 a-10 cas track for approx 5 mins and found: (1280*1024 4aa for all tests, default high settings 71.84 drivers) Singly gpu = 37.67 min=9 max=109 Sli arf = 29.23 min=8 max=75. I had water flickering and load balance showing. Sli sfr = 36.37 min=9 max=102. I had some texture corruption but not too bad overall. I also found that it was generally smooter than single gpu@stock (No load balancing view enabled this time) Single Gpu@425/1.14 = 42.1 min=10 max=108 (6fps more than an extra $400 gpu!) My first test after quiting lock on and looking at some temps/voltages my entire screen went green??? A reset fixed that, the next test i got shut down, possibly GPU1 overheated, it was really warm. I left it with a 20cm fan blowing onto it for about 5 mins then turned the machine back on. Once in windows GPU1=66C still!! (both on NV5+as5) Increased my threashold for my voltages in pcprobe thinking its possible the psu cutting out due to excess loading. Tryed afr2 and once again got shut down aproximately 1min into my test gpu1 was not nearly as hot coz i left the big fan blowing onto it and the side case off. Note 25C ambient temp. Needless to say i gave up!!! i have no idea what the problem is. Still quite possibly the psu but i would have thought 480W with 550peak would be enough for my setup with the extra GT. ill have to try out my brothers computer with my card in his (same setup only differing in HD and CD/DVD drives + hd tv card.) VIPER have you tested your setup with single vs dual cards? We would love to know how you got it working?? Cali: If we got sli for lock on primarily yes it seems it is a waste but not if they are used for numorous other games. Hopefully a driver release will help us on our way. Cheers guys Edit: Cpu was not overclocked for these tests contrary to my sig.
Nate Dogg Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 On another note, eric do you have Pacific fighters, if so how does sli work with that? can you run water=3 smoothly?
firesoldier845 Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Nate, Incidentily what kind of performance are u getting with your current setup as I just ordered a similar rig as yours but getting an 6800Ultra OC instead of the GT? The firingsquad.com SLI review showed the Ultra getting higher FPS on the low end then SLI GT so I went with the single GPU. I'm just hoping for 30fps over the large towns with everything on high - medium water and medium vis. If I can get that I'll be fine. I'm hopeful cause my P4 3.2 gets about 25 fps over the large towns with similar settings.
rekoal Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 what card a you running now " firesoldier845 "?? rekoal
firesoldier845 Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 rekoal, I had a BFG 6800GT clocked at 370mhz - But right now I'm running a pathethic Gforce4. I sold my 6800Gt cause it was AGP and I wanted to get a PCIe motherboard and new CPU. So I just bought a 6800Ultra clocked at 425mhz. The reason I bought the Ultra was cause I read the SLI LOMAC benchmarks on firingsquad.com and a Ultra seemed to do better at the bottom level of fps then the GT SLI setup. The GT SLI had higher fps, but the minimum fps was lower than the Ultra.
Nate Dogg Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 well with my specs i run at 1280*1024 4aa everything on high/on but water on med. With my GT overclocked i don't usually go anything under 30fps except with lots going on in the main a-10 campaign. But i really can't notice the drops if the fps counter isn't up! You love a similar system to mine. You will need a massive PSU to run dual ultras if thats were you heading though. Ive just found out from the guru3d forums that my psu isn't up to the task becasue of its 20pin connecter. even though asus tech support said it would be fine! Now ill have to pull power from another cable or buy a new psu which sucks!
firesoldier845 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Nate, Thanks, I don't plan on getting another Ultra. I'm just going to run a single video card. I think I will be happy. In the firingsquad.com SLI review, they ran the Mig29 Demo and the min fps for SLI GT was like 31 and the Ultra got 34 fps and was actually faster at the bottom end of the benchmarks then SLI. Naturally, the SLI was faster at max fps. I just bought a good PSU too with the larger connector 23 pin or something like that I think and it's got a seperate 12v PCIe connector as well. I hope it will be able to run that 6800 Ultra and the A64. I'll have my rig probably next week sometime and let you guys know how it went. Incidentily I bought a 3800+ last month and returned it cause of problems (more than likely it was my old PSU). The 3800+ ran LOMAC smooth as silk and I was really happy when it was working. I had to return it though. I think the FX55 and Ultra will be sweet when I get it. thanks for replying, I've been unable to play LOMAC since I sold my old AGP vid card and can't wait to get back in the mix.
Nate Dogg Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 You will definately love it, expecially since it is as good as you can get right now and theres not much on the horizon for quite some time for new hardware. hope all goes well when you get your system. Enjoy Note: we still haven't figured out why some of us can't get good results for SLI and others can????
