cheat a sam launch ????

Hi

If It´s was possible launch a flare with long range performance from the chopper to a area inside sam range,can this cheat a sam to launch to what flare????

No. The SAM operator will see that it's a flare and won't launch on it.

 

Flares are there to confuse the seeker head and either cause the MANPAD/SHORAD operator to not get a good enough lock to launch at all (this is why you see american A10's in Iraq and israeli F16's over Gaza launch flares on CNN - not because someone is right then launching at them, but because someone might be trying to lock on). With the added heat source of the flares it becomes more difficult for the missile to know where the target exactly is - and when the flare falls away from the target, which of the signatures it is seeing is the actual target it was tracking.

 

A flare on it's own would just be looked at by the SAM operator and possibly serve as a distraction through making them say "oooh, pretty lights!" :D

When you have an Ingla on your shoulder you just point the thing at an aircraft there's no display to tell you what the missile's doing, only an audio tone. If you have an aircraft in your (purely optical... I don't even know if they are magnified) sights and a tone in your earphones... that's all you get.

Keep in mind that Flares are only deployed against I/R (Infra-Red Seeker) SAM's. In-SIM this means SHORAD.

 

Any Medium/Long Range SAM's launched at you will Not be Spoofed at all by Hemorrhaging Copious amounts of Flares........You'll be Dead and the SAM Operator will be in a Fit of Giggles, so be sure to save them for when they are really needed ;)
