Endoplasmic Reticulum Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) Salam alaykum folks. I was just a bit bored and began experimenting with the weather editor. I just opened the Clear Tkhvarceli mission and added a bit snow and put it in the fridge ;). I get close to my observation spot, stabilize my KA-50 'Humbug :D' and begin scanning for targets. I activate 'anti-Ice' as my Nadja wishes and a short while after that, I receive the 'Elec on Accum' warning. I know this means that there is not enough power from the turbines, so the accumulators support the electrical system. With the reduced power I have, I can hardly stay in a hover for a while and have to jettison all weapons so I can make it back to the FARP. Even when I disable 'anti-ice' to increase airflow into the turbine, the situation does'nt get better. Is this a general problem when operating in extreme cold weather conditions when in a hover? To keep it short, I've added a .trk file. Thanx in advanx Damn... forgot the file... wait...Safaks Clear Tkvarceli Snowstorm Elec on Accum.trk Edited December 29, 2009 by Endoplasmic Reticulum I used to love her, but I had to kill her I had to put her, six feet under And I can still hear her complain A tribute to BBetty and NNadja :bye_3:
Frederf Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Ah, simple engine failure. You never turned on the engine inlet anti-ice system, switch just to the right of the rotor anti-ice [up position] (or is it de-ice? there's a difference). When the going gets tough there's no harm in throttle to emergency either. Nadja only knows temperature and nothing about precipitation, altitude, airspeed. Turn on anti-ice systems when you think it is good. Nadja doesn't fly, pilot flies!

Endoplasmic Reticulum Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Ahhh... thanx. Nadya nagging and Endo flying. Two factors causing a catastrophe ;). Yes, I think I'd just activated rotor anti-ice and nothing else. And overspeeding the turbine in cold conditions doesn't harm my engines? Due to cold air? Thanks again. I used to love her, but I had to kill her I had to put her, six feet under And I can still hear her complain A tribute to BBetty and NNadja :bye_3:
159th_Viper Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 ....And overspeeding the turbine in cold conditions doesn't harm my engines?..... Your EEG's prevent PT Overspeed. Operating the Engines without the necessary Rotor and Engine Anti-Ice systems engaged Kills your Engine Outright. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career?
