leafer Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 What will be your choice between the I5 and the Core 2 system? Yes, I read a few reviews and, clearly, the I5 is touted the best bang for the bucks. However, I would appreciate some advice from enthusiasts on this forum. Also, is anyone here using ThermalTake V9 case and what is your impression? With the budget in mind, which ATI card would you recommend? How about the PSU; 550 or 600 watts? I have the money and this incredible urge to build...help me, brothers. I feel like a speed freak in a crack depot. So many choices, so little money. Thanks ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Kuky Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 hehehe :D I think you'd be happy with either i5 or Core 2, for ATI card 4870 will more than do it or 5750 bit cheaper I think PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
leafer Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 The thing is that if I go with the I5, I'll have to settle for less than stellar video card, etc. Basically the 1156 mobo and the I5 will take up half of my budget. I guess I'll decide when I'm at the comp shop. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Kuky Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 then you're probably better of to get C2 system as it will save some money on m/b and RAM and you'll be able to get bit better video card and possibly aftermarket CPU cooler so you can overclock it PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
emenance Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I always point people to the leaderboard. That way they can check out the hardware for themselves and get familier with some kind of formula for success. http://pcper.com/hwlb.php There is also now a forum dedicated to the hardware and configs in the leaderboard. All could learn from it. GL Asus P8Z68-V GEN3/ 2500k 4.4ghz / Corsair 64gb SSD Cache / Corsair 8g 1600 ddr3 / 2 x 320gb RE3 Raid 0 /Corsair 950w/ Zotac 560TI AMP 1gb / Zalman GS1200 case /G940/
