Currently one of my largest frustrations with DCS online is the complete lack of coordination with many of the online players. I typically will log in, set my datalink ID, announce it and ask for contact updates.

Nothing.

So i end up flying and exploring on my own.

I am wondering if someone can shed some light for me as to how the integration of FC2 aircraft could help rememdy the situation. I am wondering if there is any way that ground units picked up by FC2 ac could be passed in multiplayer environment to my Ka50. Not knowing much about these planes... do they even have a target identification capability that can share with other air assets?

My first suggestion would be to join a squad because the problem you have is more of players than the sim itself. 159th are cool and 104th are also a good bunch. Once Fc 2 drops the need for tactfully assigned members will be essential for an immersive experience.

That is what I suggest before going any further.

The su 25 and t's as far as I know can't send you data linked targets. They can't share with each other as it is now. Verbally calling out targets or marking with smoke rockets will be the best way I assume.

so could a situation develop whereupon an su25 locates the ground targets prior to ka50 ingress and marks them with smoke? I am trying to figure out how the two will work together.

will su25 focus on aaa threats and taking them out at a larger "stand-off" than the ka50 allowing the black shark to mop up while they protect from above marking new threats?

what kind of radar/enemy unit localization abilties do the aircraft have? is it purely visual like ka50?

Varies. But you could have a scenario where Ka-50's ingress NOE to the target area, whereafter Su-25T's equipped with the Phantasmagoria and Kh25MLU and other ARM missiles to disable the radar SAMs that would spoil the fun for the Ka-50's, at the same time as MiG-29's and Su-27's have to protect the 25's and Ka-50's against the F-15's that don't much like this whole idea of knocking out the air defences and running about with attack helicopters.

So on specific detection capabilities, the vanilla 25 is purely visual, yes, and the 25T is mainly visual (it also uses the Skhval and Vikhr, like the shark), but the latter does have the option of some other more advanced weaponry and the mentioned Phantasmagoria pod towards employing ARMs.

You can also have a scenario where each side has 4 sharks and 2 fighters, and the job of the fighters is to both stop the enemy sharks and protect it's own.

Or about 3 billion other possible scenarios that mission designers might come up with.

To get that kind of co-ordination on a normal public server is extremely unlikely, to put it mildly. So, I second the recommendation to join an organised squad, and you'll need to use voice comms as well (Teamspeak, Mumble etc). I see TS3 beta is out and about....

Those kind of multi platform strike packages can then become a reality, with human Opfor thrown in for good measure. Don't underestimate the level of player co-ordination required though. RL tends to intervene, since most sim players are older (I generalise, but it seems to be true). I normally have to bail because a two year old child is pulling on my legs.

There are alternatives to joing a squad for anyone who wants more co-op action.

There are many of us out there who enjoy working together, you just have to look for us. Start a thread and see if you can arrange a co-op between a few members here for example. You'd even find more cooperation than you might think of if you connect to the TS/Vent servers offered by most of those hosting public servers, the 159th being the most notable.

And of course there are always other ways to get your co-op fix, see HERE and HERE (shameless plug :D) for starters.

just wait for that 2 year old to become old enough to wing beside and after a nice game of catch you can roll strike package delta on enemy armor advancing on your ground forces. ;) ;). Just need to wait at least another 12 years I'd say. A few dcs modules will be out by then ;)
