joker62 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Dear Sirs, I'd like update my OS (especially due to DCS) ... I thinked Win7 64 bit. Is't better Home, Pro, or Ultimate? (At present I own Win XP 32 bit Pro.) Any suggestions will be very appreciate. Thanks in advance. Best regards. antonio
EtherealN Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I'd say have a look at the feature lists for the various versions. I haven't gone through it in detail myself since I intend to stay with Vista until I buy a new computer, but if it's anything like it was with Vista I'd say the Ultimate version is overkill. Lots of functions that will sit there and eat resources without being used (and make a larger hole in your wallet when you purchase). You won't use the advantages Pro and Ultimate offer unless you run a business on your network or have a lot of computers. Boberro Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 i would suggest Home... I used Vista Ultimate and it was overloaded. Home is good solution imho to common "home" tasks. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
EtherealN Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Yeah, some people were frustrated with Microsoft for the wide variety of versions with different features, but for myself I kind of liked the fact that I could make sure that I only pay for those features that I will be using. If you find yourself needing something bigger in the future, for whatever reason, you always have the option of the Windows Anytime upgrade thingie. KosPilot Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Go for the W7 64bit Pro version. The Pro version has a compability mode that let you run some of your older SW. Ultimate is only needed if you run a business and want some extra security features. I've been running BS on W7 Pro 64bit for some time and have not had any issues.
Mr Pink Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 home edition works fine for me, just a lot of gaming and gonna set up a small home network soon enough
