Hi Guys

I have been playing Black shark for a week now, and can just about hover if i am lucky:)

I have noticed that some the keyboard & joystick buttons don't appear to be working in simulation mode. If i load quick action with Realism off i can shoot weapons OK from both Keyboard & joystick.

However if i switch to simulation mode none of the weapons switches seem to work. I have checked the controls in options and they seem to be mapped OK. For example fire cannons is mapped to the space & trigger but neither work. using the 'c' key to select cannons doesn't appear to work either.

I re-installed my pc yesterday(different issue) and it still occurs. Any suggestions?

Andrew

PS its a great game

Please note, that you have two helicopters model: Ka-50 easy and Ka-50 real. So, key and joystick assignments are different for these models. See OPTIONS - CONTROLS - AIRCRAFT combobox.

Thanks for the reply

I should have said i checked both sets of controls Ka-50 real is setup for the same buttons to fire and select weapons. Is there any extra buttons i need to select in Real mode to fire a weapon?

There's a laundry list of requirements to fire a weapon. Electrical power, WCS power, laser for auto WCS control, etc. The best way to break a complex problem into 2 simpler problems is to ask "Do I have a 'C' launch authorized cue on my HUD?" If no, then there's something wrong with your basic setup. If yes and you still can't fire then the checklist is pretty short.

As far as triggers go in the Ka-50 there's 3 major ones as far as actually firing a weapon. There's the cannon trigger, the weapons release trigger, and the cannon-enable.

The cannon trigger fires the cannon (when enabled).

The weapons release trigger fires the currently selected hardpoint pair (green lights).

The cannon-enable toggles between cannon or other weapon being active.

I was at the same stage as you when I came accross the following tutorial:

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185/STICKY_Tutorial_How_to_take_of.html

As the Frederf alluded to, to get you launching weapons through the medium of forum replies would take forever, download this and print the manual and I guarantee you that within half an hour a tank will be toast.

Did the job for me, thanks again ParaB!

Ps sorry about not being able to find a link to anything on this site Mods but I did search first.

Ok - am very confused now. I ran through the tutorial that L4Key linked to. When i got to the section about engaging enemies it all started to go wrong.

Despite doing a quickstart (Lwin + Home) master Arm switch was not set, so i set it. I get no green lights showing on the weapons indicator just four yellows. the only number showing underneath is the cannon which changes depending on HE or AP selected. the box showing number of missiles is blank. If i take the WPN control off auto the C symbol appears but still cannot fire.

I believe i should have both rockets and missiles loaded as well as the cannon for this mission.

I know i am missing something here - can anyone guide me in the right direction.

Are you selecting the hardpoint you want to use? If you press Y it selects the Vikhrs, giving you the outer green lights. I just checked the tutorial and it's not clear on that point.

'I' selects the inner hardpoint ie rockets fyi.
