Doogerie Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Ok so i have sorted almost all types of combat in the A-10 apart from bombing so i have 2 questions 1.what is a pipper 2. how can i be shour that i have indeed droped my ordnence? as it's not like fireing a rockit ot using the gun you can't see any indcation untill it hits terra fermer.
Total Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 The pipper is the round circle with the center dot on your HUD (think of it as a reticule). Your weapones panel shows the ordance you have. Each button is illuminated for the rounds on the pylon and each is labeled accordinaly. When a peice of ordnance is deployed, you'll notice the illumated square will go from green to red. Hope this helps :)
Lange_666 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 1 Pipper: If you have sorted all types of combat in the A-10A you already made use of the pipper. The pipper is the targetdesignator sitting in the middle of the HUD (by default) when you are in combat mode. In some modes, this pipper can be moved. This can be a little circle with a point in the middle (AGM missiles), a little dotted circle with a point in the middle (free fall bombs). These two are movable by use of a HAT switch (or keyboard) and can be put over the target to designate (or lock) the target. Then you can have a circle with a range indicator around it (rockets) or the guncross which is in fact a pipper too. 2: You can see this in the HUD on the lower left. You can see which type of bomb you have currectly active and the amount of bombs available. If you drop a bomb, this number will decrease. You also hear the bomb release. It sounds like...a little bump on the moment of release. And in CCRP bomb mode your bombs release automatically the moment the locked targetdesignator follows the calculated release line and goes through the release cue. At that moment you hear the little bump again and your amount of bombs will decrease in the HUD readout. In CCIP mode, you have to squeeze the trigger the moment the locked pipper goes excactly over the release cue. Same here, you see the amount of bombs decrease in the HUD. You can also look at the weapons stations (left side of the cockpit) and see which weapons turns from green (on station) to red (off station).
