Prophet4no1 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Some of my clan picked it up, and never played it again. From what I have gathered it's pretty flat and boaring. The zero G novlty wears out fast and in the end you have a mediocer shooter. BF:BC2 on the other hand is kick ass. Been playing the Beta for a couple weeks now. Lots of goodness coming in that one. diveplane Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 i just spotted the non dx9 support oh well rules out for me playing. it looked quite good as well. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Prophet4no1 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 It's a game made by a benchmarking company. Not a game company. Don't expect to much. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Prophet4no1 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 That's it. The beta is a lot cleaner than that vid. Sharper and more detailed textures. What you are seing int he vid is wattered down Xbox360 visuals. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boulund Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I tried out Shattered Horizon with a guest pass for three days. It was an interesting environment to play in with rather nice looking maps with lots of tactical possibilites. But the game engine is a joke, looking like something that could've come out 2-3 years ago but still being resource hog like something from tomorrow. It fell really flat after two days of playing when realizing that there are only a few maps. The gameplay is very reminicent of the space battles described in Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (good book btw). But the game is barely worth money imo. A friend snatched it on the steam holiday sales for less than 10$ I think, which is what I belive to be the upper limit of what I would pay for it. Prophet4no1 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 The BC2 beta is still open. You and DL if you have a fileplanet account or pre order the game from STEAM. Either way you are in on the beta for a couple more weeks before it ends. Hardcore mode is the shit! Typical hardcore stuff; no map/radar, no HUD, no enemy markers, more lethal weapons. All good things, IMHO. But there are only 2-3 hardcore servers for the beta. And they tend to be a bit flaky at times. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I played some today and it was quite enjoyable. The destructible environments really add to the gameplay as it feels like an actual battle is going on. I do feel though that the majority of players have no idea how to properly play a battlefield game. I got something like 8 kills with the Dshkm on a tank because people didn't realize there was a gunner in it and they kept running right at us. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Boulund Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I saw that there is a free weekend for Shattered Horizon this weekend, to get more players enticed about the new maps I guess.. http://www.shatteredhorizon.com/ http://www.steampowered.com/ Free to try if you're interested. I'll pass though... deadsmell Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 i took advantage of the Shattered Horizon free trial weekend. I only spent a couple hours with it so far, but its not the worst game ive ever played. the game certainly has potential. Frankly its quite surprising a game like this hasnt come out before this one. The concept is cool. really it just needs deeper gameplay elements, and more levels. not bad to try out though, and im sure many people would see the value in buying during the weekend while its half price at 9.99 Dont let the smell get to ya...............
