WalterSobchak Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I want to by the Black Shark Sim but have read nothing but horror stories regarding Starforce problems. I'm not sure it's worth the risk of computer problems just for this sim. Can anyone enlighten further about these issues?
159th_Viper Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I want to by the Black Shark Sim but have read nothing but horror stories regarding Starforce problems. I'm not sure it's worth the risk of computer problems just for this sim. Can anyone enlighten further about these issues? Horror Stories you have Read......Ignore them as Rantings of the Ill-Informed ;) Insofar as Black Shark is concerned, the Copy-Protection utilized (Starforce Proactive) installs No Drivers at all on your System - accordingly no Risk  Further Clarification - http://www.star-force.com/support/users/group2.php#21 Protection driver 2.1 Do the applications that require activation via the Internet use the protection driver? No! Since such applications require no optical media in the drive and do not check the uniqueness of such media, they require no protection against optical drive emulators, and therefore, do not use special protection driver designed to work with optical media. However, according to a publisher’s choice, some applications can employ the protected container technology; the driver is used in this case. To Clarify - The Highlighted text as above in Red Does Not Apply to DCS:Black Shark. I have been taken to task before on this point, Hence Clarifying from the Outset :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder!
