jpm1 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 (edited) They say it was used in Kaspian and Black Sea region, where from did they operate in Black Sea, Sevastopol, Novorossiysk or Gelenzhik? seems there were two types of ekranoplans the A-90 (a transport) and the Lun-class (fitted with missiles) . don't know for the A-90 but a Lun-class (the only one ever in service) has been affected to the black see fleet so there is strong to bet it was in Sevastopol or accessorily at Odessa i have a scoop for you guys : airliners.net mystery is ... an ekranoplan it's a VVA-14 link Edited March 14, 2010 by jpm1 added image SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Wilde Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 There was at least a third type. In the Western world it is only known as "Caspian Sea Monster". It was similar to the Lun, but it wasn't a missile plattform. Supposedly it was a cargo plane, probably for "amphibious" attacks. Rumors say it could have lifted up to 1'000 tons (including its own weight of some 500 tons). Check this link for pics and videos. 2

All wars are sad even for such ones that didn't happened like the cold war . The soldier sacrifice is valuable but sometimes the price is high i found a video showing a missile launch (3:34) SU-25 missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

mikoyan Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Russia revives Caspian Sea Monster If that is true the should call the people who worked on the original project, at least that would give them a decent job. What are they going to use the ekranoplane for? as a ferry? I imagine this machine crossing from Dover to Calais that would be like the ultimate chip! something like a concord of the sea.
