Another thing you can try is, check in advance settings of screen resolution (right click on desktop, etc.) that the monitor option "hide modes monitor doesn't support" is deactivated, perhaps you's resolution will appear. ". Also, if you're using the digital cable for the screen, change it to the analog cable, you might have a different choice of resolutions.

In the end, you might want to try Win Vista 64 (with Service Pack 2 its a W7 perfomance wise, it has even dx11).

Will give it a thought but i do like Windows 7 overall.

I still wonder why there is a difference between the single player GUI and the multiplayer GUI...

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Single player is a more modern GUI done in openGL. Multiplayer GUI is directx, but I guess with time both will be unified.

I've edited the previous post, give it a look.

The option "hide modes monitor doesn't support" is grayed out in Windows 7 (unlike in XP) and is therefore not selectable at all. After installing Windows 7 for the first time (coming from XP where i used 1152x864x32 @ 100Hz) i could only select 1152x864 @ 60Hz and only 16-bit of color. Windows 7 always suggested i should use 1280x1024 but as i said before, that's not a good res because my CRT has a 4/3 dimmension and 1280x1024 is a 5/4 dimmension resulting in things like circles not being circular displayed at all etc...

Therefore i wanted to stay with 1152x864 because the next 4/3 res is 1600x1200 which looks cool ingame (besides the low FPS due to much more hard work for the GPU on such a res) but is not usable as a desktop on a 19" screen because everything becomes to small at that res.

So i started my search why i did not had the option to select my old refreshrates and came to find that Windows 7 didn't support that anymore because my monitor didn't support it either... LOL. It's it's own Windows monitor.inf file which decides that i suddenly have an LCD instead of a CRT and that refuses to give me the options that my monitor can really perform. So it even grayed out the option "hide modes monitor doesn't support" so i could not even select that as a last solution. What kinda bastard can you be...? LOL.

So after a long search and reading through zillions of posts i found only 3 solutions to get my 1152x864 res back at a decent refreshrate:

- Write my own EDID file and install that. Windows 7 refuses to accept such a file and won't install (i'm on admin since the first second...).

- Going via Powerstrip to create a new monitor.inf file. Is more a solution to get your max resolution back after you installed Windows 7 and Win7 refuses to have it selected. Gives problems on install, just as above.

- Using the 182.50 drivers which where the only drivers which were able to create custom res with custom refresh which were actually selectable. This finaly worked and has been the only working solution i found so far.

Anything higher then 182.50 didn't work when creating custom stuff or didn't even have the option to do so. 197.13 now offers it again, but unlike 182.50 it still doesn't work right, refuses to accept anything over 85Hz (not really needed, 85Hz is OK) and doesn't give me a sharp picture at my custom resolution.

Therefore, i decided to revert back to 182.50 and hopla... custom created 1152x864x32 @ 75, 85, 100, 120 Hz and all razorsharp!!!

What went wrong in Windows Vista/7 i don't know but in XP it was not needed to create any custom res or refreshrate, i just simply had them available and working superb.

Why there is a difference in sharpness at 1152x864 (and the difference is hugh, believe me) between XP or Win7 with 182.50 drivers and a standard non tweaked Windows 7 install is something i still didn't find to today except that Windows 7 draws the LCD card and forgets that there are still quite some CRT's out there. But even then, i don't find that an acceptable explenation. I just still use a CRT because it allows me to switch between various resolutions and always have a sharp picture unlike an LCD which only delivers a sharp picture on it's native resolution (except a few exceptions).

As for the cable, i only have one option and that's analog.
