crazyeddie Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Disappointed to see that they have still not sorted out the problem with the Structures taking sides !!!! I had hoped they would make the inanimate objects neutral, as they are in real life. You insert a building, for example the Cafe, under Russia(Red) at any airfield and only Russian aircraft can land on that airfield. Try to land an A10 (Blue) and it diverts to the nearest airfield that does not have a red object on it. This is going to make scenery building and scenery add on's in the way of eye candy a complete waste of time. They got it wrong in Black Shark, I never managed to find a way around it there and it's the same thing here ... unless anyone knows better ?.

Grimes Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I'd love to see a 3rd coalition side possible. Either as a completely neutral or as joinable side. Also note if two air units from each side are given a command to land at an airbase in the future (via hold time) the airbase defaults to blue. But if a red unit goes near the base to capture it, it can become red... no active blue units are allowed to be present in order for this to occur The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Name me one building anywhere that knows which side it is on ... building are buildings, they are inanimate, no ability to do anything other than stand there, be defended and be blown up. It's the human element defending it that gives it a side, and that is a transient state. Anyone wanting to enhance the scenery has to do it through the Mission Builder and this lack of foresight takes that ability away, no add on trees around the air bases, no extra buildings etc, unless you make that base a permanent Red or Blue Base. Put a red cafe and a blue cafe on it and nothing will ever land on it, it's plain daft. Leaps from soap box ... Edited April 5, 2010 by crazyeddie

Surely a Russian command centre should be Russian. I know what you mean and are saying.. and hence why it would be nice to be able to use neutral units for say a farm or other inert building. crazyeddie Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Thanks Tommy, forgot the point scoring element of the game, that was why they did it this way I suppose. Great shame, there are some really good modders out there who could make the scenery even better than it is, Birdy's tree Mod and New Buildings for LFC is a prime example. I heavily modded my BS with correct buildings in the right places, extra trees etc etc ... it looks great but you have to destroy EVERYTHING to be able to land ... I was trying to create a mod for everyone to use but I gave up in the end. Tried to get ED to acknowledge the plan but never got a reply to anything I asked or said, which seems to be the norm for ED sadly. So I am not expecting anything new here either, what we have is all we have. Another great opportunity missed.
