HiJack Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 If I want to go with the 6DOF mod and change my views, is it generally accepted to use this MOD online now? It makes changes to these files in the “Config\View” folder: Server.lua SnapViews.lua View.lua If we don’t integrity check these files isn’t this going to be a “black hole” in the “Fair Play” motto? Shouldn’t we all (or a roundtable) agree on a set of MOD’s/changes in files and produce a “Fair to use changes” and populate the files on integrity checked servers? A file package must be made to download and install on clients as well. This is very common in the Call Of Duty gaming communities, ref. ProMod. You are not allowed to play on the server before you have the mod installed ;) COD uses the same "copy of folder" as backup and fast switching of settings. ® 1

It is possible for mission makers to include these files in the mission, overriding your local settings. The 104th did this in the past. Some of the big squadrons are represented on the Community Round Table, though some squadrons are notable absent. These issues have been discussed there. At the moment all squadrons are still looking into which files should be checked and if so which versions. The 51st server already has made a ModMan compatible pack that clients can install to switch between the server compatible version that uses stock versions of files and local copies. There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
