Ghostrida9 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Ok, Here we go, me and one of my Friends try to connect to each other via Internet, I'm the server, he's the Client, our port is standart 10308, He got my IP, my Network got a Name and so on..I start a mission, and see myself "my Name", he try to join via my IP but it says "Can't connect", he also tryed the other number to connect that lockon gave us, something like 192.186..... and so on, "Can't connect" , we both are connected to the Internet via a Router, he got one me also, we can connect and talk on skype and all that stuff works fine. My System in WIN XP, he got WIN 7. we both can join Public server in Lockon FC2, and he can see me inside the Game so that works, but it Dosent work computer to computer :( we tryed to disable or Firewalls, Also both of us allowed Lockon Fc2 to connect to the Internet cause Win asked for it.. Any ideas what to do, any simple program where we can try to connect to each other via IP to make sure that it works? at least to make sure that the error got nuthin to do wit our system... (My IP Router Adress), and I can choose something in a drop Down menue Allow to Open a Port for : Http-Server FTP-Server Emule TCP Emule UDP MS Remote Desktop Another Application and then to IP Adress 192..... What should I choose?? Hope this is the right thing..Damn, by the way my Router is a Fritz!Box SL Wlan  RAF Gütersloh Airbase Project Now or Never
Panzertard Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 When you trying to host: "Another application", then if it ask - port 10308 TCP/UDP (both). And then if it asks for machine/ip - give it the IP of your PC. You may need to study the router-interface (or manual) a little bit, but you should be able to understand it eventually. :) The mind is like a parachute. Last Idea, I didn't reboot tha computer when I made changes just started the Fc 2 multiplayer game again..but the reboot should not be the Problem... RAF Gütersloh Airbase Project Now or Never
Distiler Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Sometimes, if you're router assigns ip to computer via DHCP, one might think that always will have xxx.xxx.xxx.002 but sometimes it gives you another one. Worth a check. Another thing is some routers have firewalls. "Open port" usually means letting something go through it. What you're looking for is not to "open" a port, but "port forwarding", different things. AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Panzertard Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Good clarfication, distiller. Let me try to add some info on that one (sorry I cant resist the urge): - You may have several PC's on the "inside". - Your router knows there are traffic coming to it's "outside IP" (your internet IP) and on port 10308 (Warfare). It know here it comes from. But it wonders "where should I send all the traffic". To which IP on the inside? - This is where port forwarding comes in. You define a server/service that is supposed to recieve that kind of traffic. Define a server/service for warfare, IP <your pc>, the service in question (10308 TCP/UDP). - Now the router knows where to send that kind of traffic. If you happend to change IP on your PC on the inside, you need to update this rule in specific with the new IP. The mind is like a parachute. Ghostrida9 Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 seems like I'm stuck here, the menue of my router just give me the option to open a port, can't find something bout xxx.xxx.xxx.002, just this 192.168.xxx.xx ip, also i can open a port for tcp, udp, gre, esp, i can only choose the port and all that stuff if i choose "another appliocation". damn it.. Maybe i should try to open a server so he could find me inside the internet server list menu in fc 2.0, but probably its difficult to open up an own server...or should he allready find me there? Ghostrida9 Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 seems like that the german word is ment to mean port forwarding, i found something bout UpnP support blablabla portforwarding, i just activated it, and there's a Mac-Id.. don't know if i need it but its listed in my menu..there's a option now to open a port for the UpnP Security setting, but noway to change some settings..it just says "There's no UpnP open port arranged" and no button to change it...man.. hardcore RAF Gütersloh Airbase Project Now or Never
Panzertard Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 FC2/DCS supports UPnP - so it might actually help you get going if your router supports it, indeed. Aye, networking and hosting is a bit hardcore. Welcome, you're becoming a nerd like the rest of us. :D The mind is like a parachute. Dirt Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Please post what you did to solve your problem. This way others that may have the same problem will be able to fix it or at least have a starting point without starting new topics. Thank You
TAIPAN_ Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 To help others, I had a similar problem. The issue was that I had changed the computer the server was running on. However my router still had uPnP pointing to my old server. Solution was to reset my router, then the server can be seen/connected Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
