Those two lines in your list of codecs make me slightly suspicious.

k3cc is a part of the software k3ccd. its a program used for making films with a telescope (planets, galaxies, nebulas and so on.)

As is typical with store bought PC's his computer is loaded to the gills with bloatware/shovelware. Wildtangent, Mcaffe, video zooming software etc etc all make me cringe. Even if junkware like this isn't running it often installs stuff like codec's, on screen displays and other stuff that is loaded regardless if the program is running or not. As EtherealN pointed out I am also suspicious of the codecs. I know for a fact that some codec packs will make it so BS can't run, just do a forum search. K-lite for instance has a little utility you need to run to make an exception list so that games don't try to use the codecs.

I have dealt with so many problems like this that are unsolvable on family and friends computers I have lost track. Usually the only fix is a clean format and ONLY use the OS install CD and get the latest drivers. Then make a restore point and a back up of your clean configuration so you always have something to fall back on. I know you probably don't want to hear that but I'd bet money that it would fix your problems..

i know some freaks really format their pc and install windows new, only because a game dont wants to work.

thats weird. all my games and all other software works without any problems and if only 1 software dont wants to work because a "launcher.exe", when the game itself works (see multiplayertest) then i wont be such stupid an reinstall the whole windows.

you understand ? i dont have any computerproblem, the only and one problem is bs ... nothing other !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though getting all drivers needed for Lap Top clean install can be a problem, Compac for example.

And they only get a restore disk

Is 1600x900 a native???

yes is the native resoluition for my display

funny is, that i dont get the launcher error message, wenn i change to for example 800*600 resolution of windows or others.

not only 1600*900 lets the launcher.exe message pop up, but some resolution dont let pop the message up.

then i have the ka-50 picture an i see the harddisk working some time, but then nothing else happens ... game wont start.

also when i use the option file from destiler, the launcher.exe error is not popping up, but the game dont starts. then it also looks like i described before.

best regards

andi

nothing worth to discuss this, i wont make a new installation of windwos, because only this one game wont start.

i use many other games (opengl or directx) an with not one other i have problems.

the programmers of bs for sure know, that noone only buys a computer to use only 1 program with it.

i dont have spezial programs installed on my system, also its not very long time in use.

the first and only problem i have with black shark. even lock on original and lock on fc2.0 dont makes any problems.

il-2 for example also runs with opengl .... no problem also here.

Some further suggestions:

If you have not done so already, please disconnect all peripherals - joystick, mouse, network cables - everything. If the problem goes away you'll know it was one of them, and you can then re-connect them one at a time to see what it was.

If possible, use the same installer to install on another computer (wife/friend etc) and try to start Launcher.exe there (not multiplayer, since you don't want to activate). Obviously you would want to uninstall afterwards though.

will do so today evening ........... lets see how many hours i will spend to get something like this to work :)

The same issue was once solved by installing another graphics drivers version: DCS:BS quits immediately after starting up (fast write was turned off also).

Unfortunately it's an extremely rare issue. We haven't managed to reproduce it.

As the last resort I would suggest to try uninstalling graphics drivers completely via a special software like a DriverSweeper.

ok .. you suggested me to uninstall the driver with this special software.

what do you recommend me to install afterwards ?

für my graficcard there is only 1 windows7 driver availible. the card is not to long time on the market.

this means that i only can install the same videocarddriver as i allready use now :)

to avoid missunderstandings : i cant start bs .... i only get the startuppicture (the ka-50) and immediately the "launcher.exe stipped working" message pops up. i guess 2-3 seconds after doubleklicking the singleplayer icon.

edit: i read the post you linked and it sounds almost similar to my problem. only the "launcher.exe error message he dont had, but that is because he use a different windows.

Preusse, do you have other tools installed on your PC, anything that may affect LUA?

Most probably it's something related to openGL of that toshiba driver, and it can't be updated with amd/ati website drivers, only with tohsiba website ones. But I just thought about another thing.

Given that FC2 works perfectly and the single player UI also uses openGL (tho launcher.exe is not the same), what is another difference? sound. DCS, until may patch won't have the new sound engine as FC2 uses. I've seen in dxdiag that you're using an external soundblaster x-fi right? have you tried to disable it? (disconnect, change configuration, disable or totally uninstall).

I'm really scrathing my head, yes yes, physically now scratching my head in a flat in Barcelona, Spain XD

PD: you can try madness, like replacing launcher.exe from FC2 to DCS:Ka-50 XD (won't work, just for the sake of LOLing)

thats all

the external soundcard:

today i unplugged everything ... what menas . mouse, external keyboard, external soundcard an the lan network cable.

tried again and nothing works

Can you show us a picture of device manager pls? (with everything plugged)

Also, about the x-fi, can you "disable it" through device manager and re-test?

Finally, in the BIOS, can you disable fast writes for the graphics card?

Still throwing ideas...

Your PC is a big mystery \o/.

I've never heard about such a problem that can't be solved - and I'm so darned sure that I've seen such a similar situation earlier where we found the cause. It was like "aaah, of course - such a simple thing" ... but I cannot remember what it was.

As distiler points out - I tend to agree with him, right now it looks like it's the ATI OpenGL implementation, which has always caused problems in certain versions.

Anyways - if I had been in such a situation myself, I would have reinstalled Windows.

But then again I do help IT-staff with such issues, and quite often I use the "spend 2 hours reinstalling your windows (clean version) and your problem will be gone in 95% of the cases".

"It will save you from 16 hours of troubleshooting - 2 hours vs 16 hours - it's your call".

I understand this is not a thing you would like to do "just to play a game".

But we're really running out of ideas here ... hm.

Of course, you could have some really strange hardware problem that only occur in BS right now.

not only to play a game, because my windows 7 installation is not old and all games are working perfekt and superfast, only bs not.

if i would have many problems, i maybe would do a fresh install, but i have no other problems....... only bs

Eveything looks very good!

Try the other things and see.

In the end, if nothing works you can do a reinstall of the original OS (Vista), would be probably the best bet (Service pack 2 install directx11, it's almost like W7)

Okai, the most obvious blunders I've seen was - and which you havent done, already asked you about those:

- Someone overwrote their Blackshark.lua with Joystick configuration.

- Someone installed extra LUA tools because they were editing some scripts.

- Quite alot has edited their LUA/CFG files using notepad instead of "Notepad++"

- NTFS/volume problems, chkdsk solved it. Had to reinstall BS after that on a working Drive (the previous files was broken since they installed before the disks were fixed).

- Virus (reinstall of Windows was the only solution).

- Other ATI mysteries, changing adapter or finding a working driver.

- Anti-virus / Anti malware blocking some important files during install.

- Other Windows mysteries.

Also:

- Early DCS:BS 1.0.1a patches may have problems with "Localized Windows versions", where you had to change all the Regional settings to "US/EN" to be able to play.

This was fixed in later versions.

Now thats about all the ideas I have.

In the end, if you don't want Vista, try W7 reinstall.
