Hello all,

Well I took the dive from DCS BS and picked up FC2 over the weekend! After two days of reading all the visual configuration posts and recommendations both for settings and mods, I now have FC2 looking visually stunning and returning quite acceptable FPS rates on my "high end" machine. Interestingly, it is fun simply working the system to get visuals perfect.

Now onto the action, I am starting with the A-10 as the first plane to fly. I have set up all my keyboard controls and stick axis for the plane and have begun the first campaign. I successfully completed the first mission and on RTB, I called Inbound and got back a response from the ATC. I flow the vector and altitude, but then all was quiet... I kept flying and flying, but still no response. I called "Landing" and again no response. Calling "Inbound" again got a response, but similar to the first, it simply set me on a vector to Final, but did not call out the turn for landing. I decided to simply fly in and land myself, and while on final, once I dropped gear, the ATC came back on the air and said something, that I now forget.

All in all though, it seems that after I called "Inbound" the ATC correctly set me on a vector to Final, but did not call out the turn vector once I reached the turn point. Is this a bug or something I am missing in FC2 ATC ops?

I had a similar experience where the moment i touched down, the ATC came back to life and said that he didn't authorise to land (or something familiar). Same stuff can happen when you ask for take-off clearance. You receive a message that you're not cleard to take-off but if you persist, it finaly comes. Only ATC will know why because there was no other traffic besides me or it should have been that "bird" option which you can set now that caused it?

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Same here, but in the SU25. Only difference is I didn't get as far as landing and hearing the ATC wakeup suddenly - I was trying a zero vis ILS approach. Didn't work out so well :)

The ATC in this is not nearly as sophisticated as FSX, or even Falcon for that matter.

The initial bearing that the tower provides is to guide you to intercept the ILS beam. Once you are near the beam, you would use the ILS to steer you towards the runway heading and the tower will call out your glideslope. Using ILS, instrument landing can be done as I have had no problems. This is the US birds though, not sure of the ruskie capabilities.

Not much more to it. Tower won't even direct you if you are on a collision course as I found out. My wingie and I crossed paths very close without a peep from the tower.
