  1. Well, to let u know, I have owned a Pimax 5k+ since 2019 and it works great for DCS! Another thing too with Pimax..., I had a problem with my 5k+ after about 4 months. One of the panels began to sparkle, and I originally reported with a video showing the issue. This was just as Covid was kicking off in China, and I was not sure if I would get any customer support and/or action on the defective unit since they were going into lockdown. Well, Pimax came through big time with very responsive customer service, and I had a new 5k+ (upgraded batch version too!) only a few weeks after originally reporting the problem and return shipment of the bad unit. Everyone I interacted with both in USA and China were very personable and great to work with. Today, my 5k+ runs great and at 120hz to play with, it leaves plenty of headroom for any extra that is needed. I also run the FidelityFX SuperResolution Upscaler in DCS which really tunes in the Pimax for great visual clarity and performance at Normal FOV. All in all, unless you have experienced a Pimax personally, its tough to criticize the product or the company.
  2. Regarding SteamVR settings and Pimax, do u use this little tidbit?
  3. Here is a little tidbit from Pimax that worked wonders for my 5k+ visual sharpness. I have been flying DCS that past two nights with these fixes, and now I can finally read the ABRIS in the blackshark without zooming in! Highly recommend the updates in this Pimax post for a visually clear Pimax experience, especially the SteamVR config tweaks! Added benefit, with Steam SS now at 100% for all my games, there is FPS increase to boot! Check it out here, if you have not seen this already: https://community.openmr.ai/t/how-to-make-your-pimax-image-crisp/29688
  4. Given 2.5.6.52437 stable active today... what shader mod version is known to work with this version? EDIT: got it working with VR Shaders 2.5.6.50321, only had to wait quite a while for it all to finally render. Did it while "at work" so it could run in background in my office. Given how long it took, setting it to render while "at work" saves from interfering with my few hrs of actual evening play time between episodes of Dark! Fun times! WW
  5. the only dig against VR...., if a cold PBR sits on your desk for the flight in 2D, that is highly not recommended in VR, especially if your computer hardware is nearby and would catch the spill!
  6. Hey all, As VR simmers, we spend most time in the chair with head on a swivel looking for contacts. My experience has always been feeling the cable down over my shoulder and getting in way of a "free" experience where only the VR headset itself is felt. I just came up with this idea for a simple stick on the chair and use of bread ties to affix the cable. It works great and now I no longer feel the cable on my shoulder/neck, or it getting in way of the flight sim VR experience. Perhaps if this "design" could be further refined to both handle cable mgmt, plus perhaps include an HMD mount option on back of chair, this could be something?! Granted, or does something like this already exist commercially? Here is a photo to show it... crude, but it works!
  7. FYI, appears Pimax just pushed out another new PiTool update. Have not tried it yet, but allowed the update to proceed. No firmware update.
  8. Yea, i wonder once the 3080 drops from Nvidia, are we all going to have to also invest in new MoBos, CPU/memory to support it?
  9. any way to improve? New pit is awesome, but without vr zoom, I cannot read/see ABRIS clearly in VR. Note in am using pimax 5k+ and though text blurriness is there in general, its considerably bad on the ABRIS display. Note running pixel density 1.0 in dcs settings. Also, different topic, but has anyone seen issue where in-game cursor will not go down low enough to press fly or save on UI screens? This occurs fairly often, but sometimes works ok. Usually I have to force quit dcs since in cannot exit the UI. Not sure what is up there?!
  10. Anyone have/try this one out?
  11. Given this is "beta 2.5" i assume these lightening fixes should be fixed prior to live release. Indeed, frustrating to see these issues in the KA 50 pit, but hopefully, that will be resolved along with the hopefully complete cockpit upgrade to v2.5 standard. The BlackShark is my number 1 flyer in DCS!
  12. i use a technique to "slide" the ship to a stop speed to set up auto hover. Basically if traveling at cruise, simply depress trim and hold. using cyclic and rudder, turn left to slide the ship while also lowering collective to maintain alt. Speed will drop quickly, thus can then turn back to original vector and use collective to continue to maintain height and when under 18 kps, release trim to lock, and click auto hover to stabilize. done.
  13. one other thought... how many DCS users have the KA 50?? DCS World ships with the TF-51 and SU-25 only. Thus any users since DCS World release would have had to have purchased the KA-50 to have it. perhaps, may DCS users simply do not have the KA-50. Thus, if it had a revamp, perhaps users would indeed purchase it, given it has one of the best flight model and cockpit experience in the entire collection. Everyone seems to think everyone with DCS has the KA-50, but in fact.... do they??
  14. Its the original module.. true... but that does not mean it should not be updated to bring up to standard, and frankly there should be no added cost. Where I would like to throw my BS money is new campaigns. We have one DLC campaign that was "free" prior to its redistribution as a paid offering. If there were completely new paid campaign offerings, there is revenue to be made there. With release of new maps, lets get the campaigns... I remember in the "old days" of DCS there were a ton of fun community campaigns that were free. Those offering are long dead, but i would love to see a resurgence of these, even paid to add some content to the DCS World. See my sig.... that was an awesome campaign from DCS days of yore. Today... nothing.
  15. Love the shark and my main flyer, especially in VR! Online, really great especially when there are jet hunters in the air and game is avoidance. Had a memorable moment the other night where myself and another shark flyer took off from Sukhumi, he flying lead, headed south toward target area. All of a sudden my RWR began beeping/flashing from rear threat. I dropped alt to treetops, kept resetting and it continued to flash while I looked for terrain cover along with a quick reverse to check six. Lo and behold a M2000 was screaming in on the deck with a missile away, blowing lead back to the spectators seat. I remained low and in the terrain and had a few more spikes on the RWR while the jet continued to hunt, but was able to keep locks off. Friendlies came in and above me a low level aerial dogfight among a number of jets ensued. Really fantastic sight, especially in VR! I remained low, and continued to target area unhindered by jets. Took out a few mobile sams, but was smoked by an BMP that saw me first... fun night!
  16. picked up the licensed version and really enjoy the Chatter plugin! has it in previous version, and now with new, quite simple/easy where it works out of the box. Adds wealth of immersion to flights as the background chatter provides some sense of "others" out there.... Note, on related topic, i originally set to use the auto on version for chatter, to simply have it run automatically; however, I have other VAPs such as for Elite, and was wondering if in VA, there is a way to load/offload plugins based on the VAP chosen in the VA vap choice dropdown. It appears now that all plugins load regardless of the active vap and I would hear VIACOM chatter while the Elite vap was active. Does anyone know if there is a way to load/offload plugins based on the active vap?
  17. I use it ok in VR, but also reduced gamma to 1.5 per other recommendations at least on NTTR. Only odd thing for me in VR is that the HTS is much smaller in VR than 2D.
  18. Bottom line though is that you can fly on one of the public servers and simply experience as if offline. Read mission brief, receive Intel from server and simply take out targets. No need to speak with anyone. Only downside is no ai wingman, but when ready that is what makes flying with others fun! If u have nttr, the online missions are best option, even if you fly them like an offline experience. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  19. That is not a problem. Many of the open servers are no different than playing offline. Basically a mission brief is provided and u simply fly out and look for targets. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  20. Outside of "offline" missions for NTTR, there are some fun "online" missions available for active servers. Basically, simply treat the "online" experience similar to offline other then perhaps seeing aircraft piloted by real guys along with AI. ~S~ wind
  21. US East Coast Ka-50 pilot here, will check out the Den. looking for others who may be interested in flying online campaigns such as BuddySpike Blue Flag 6. I did BlueFlag 5 but was solo most of the time as not many rotorheads on TS when I was up.
  22. it is likely unique to your config. I successfully upgraded to latest 1.5 version and it runs smoothly, no issues!
  23. The russian Natasha voice is so much more pleasing than the English voice. Any way to configure russian Natasha voice for the English avionics?
