TAIPAN_ Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Hi, I've setup FC2 on a separate system, it's a 3Ghz CPU and 2GB RAM. Crappy graphics card though. Does that graphics card affect server performance? The problem is, even local LAN clients connected to it, get stuttering, like the other aircraft jitter around. Since the CPU and RAM are ok and DCS/FC2 isn't multi cpu capable, and LAN is local, what could be the problem? Graphics card?? EtherealN Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 My spontaneous thought is UDP. Does the server have UDP open properly on port 10308? TAIPAN_ Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Yep this is a local connection I'm testing from. However I've added it to my routers port forwarding now too for others. One thing I have done is set maxfps = 1 as I don't need to see the screen, could that have caused issues? I also set all the graphics settings to the lowest the GUI allows. Distiler Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) Try to set maxfps to 25 and when you start the server switch it to F10 map view so your computer just renders 2D. If your mission has lots of units it will probably lag and ultimatelly crash the server. Also, mind that scenes and civ traffic are the only graphical settings enforced by server so if you set them to low and off respectively, all clients regardless their settings will see scenes at low and civ traffic off. Finally check for lan collisions. You can try to lower bandwidht to half duplex 10mbit and from there start going up to 100mbit full duplex (check those settings in both network cards propierties and router/switch configuration) Edited April 13, 2010 by Distiler AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
TAIPAN_ Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks I'll try it at 25, and the F10 view. What exactly does Scenes control? Cheers Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
26-J39 Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Scenes will control the amount of ground objects/scenery on ground within view.. When I connected yesterday Taipan it seemed to me that the problem was too many units in mission as per your internet connection.. just my guess tho :)
TAIPAN_ Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Could be, it is a custom mission. That mission involves all slots playing as AI until players connect, it's a nice idea if the server can pull it off. One thing I found today it was running much smoother, until I opened touchbuddy! Then all hell broke loose. I change the server back to EnableLuaExport=false. I'll try again. If you get on the server on it, please say something into chat regarding performance and I'll see it in the log. Cheers Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
