Renato71 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Hi, I have some inquires from my buddies that I cannot answer. These are the most risky for me to answer: 1. I activated FC2, but I want to reinstall my OS. There will be no changes in hardware. Simple format and install. a) Do I have to deactivate and activate FC2? b) Will I loose one activation in the process? 2. I activated FC2 on clean OS. Then I've created a backup image using application XYZ. After few days I've messed my OS. I want to use XYZ to restore my backup image. Image contains installed and activated FC2. There will be no changes in hardware. a) Does image restoration preserve activation? b) Do I have to deactivate and activate FC2? c) Will I loose one activation in the process? 3. I have two OS on my PC, Win XP and Win 7. They both use the same hardware (nothing is disabled for one or other). I want to install FC2 on both OS, and to be able to use each installation. a) Can I use the same purchased key to activate two separate FC2 installations on both OS? b) Will I need one or two activations? Thanks in advance! I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets. Contact via PM.
Nate--IRL-- Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 1) Deactivate first before reinstallation of the OS. You keep your activation by reactivating with Serial+deactivation code given. 2) No need to deactivate, just restore the image to the harddisk, activation is preserved. (Note I used ACRONIS to do this, your software & outcome may be different) 3) Each OS will require its own activation of the same serial. Thanks in advance! Technically you can, but if you use both at the same time it is an EULA break. In this case you'll need a serial for each computer (for example you want a pc as a server and another as a client) AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Renato71 Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 Thanks for quick reply! 1) Are you sure? You keep your activation by reactivating with Serial+deactivation code given? darn, I've missed that one week ago. Do you have any link to official info on that? 2) Great. Some users are using Acronis, some other stuff. 3) But, they will work OK? Nothing will mess up activations? Sorry to bother, but I'm a messenger here, have to be 100% sure :) Cheers! In this case you'll need a serial for each computer (for example you want a pc as a server and another as a client) There is only ONE computer in each case. Does EULA mention this dual-boot option? I had no time to read carefully :dunno: I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets. Contact via PM.

I had no time to read carefully :dunno: ahh yes sorry, in that case I can't see any conflict with the EULA except in the case that you're, someway, able to start two OS at the same time (virtualization),but I don't think it's your case. Edit:- looking at the LOCKON_FC2_Quick_Start_Manual_EN.pdf in the FC2 Doc folder, it doesn't mention a Deactivation Code, just Deactivatioin. Black Shark uses a deactivation code, FC2 may be different, I haven't deactivated FC2 yet. But in general you'll want to deactivate before wiping your OS. 3) Yes they will work fine in each OS. No, no virtualization. XOR :D 1) You will use up one deactivation, but you remain on the same activation. Nate 1) Ayeh, I understand. I've deactivated my FC2 (Russian version which I gave to a buddy, and then bought and activated English version for myself), but I do not remember there was any message apart from "Product deactivated, thanks and see you later". I'll guess I'll have to wait for some official explanation on this one? 3) Okay. Thanks to both! If anybody else has similar experience, please post them here. I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. ShadowVonChadwick Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) Hi Renato I also use a boot manger (multi OS XP/win7 plus test OS) that enables me to image OS patition and past back in when needed. And my understanding is that now there is no deactivation code needed and I just reinstall using same activation code. Have done a few reinstall latley, new 64bit win7 up from 32bit version to find prefered basic install. The two OS thing could be a problem though I think OS change needs new code as I found with CPU up grade & then later with HD fail. Dont bother with XP/FC2 runs better on win7. Though give it a try with same code and post back. When you activate you use the code you get from ED, lets say its 123456. You can use this to activate 8 times (I think). However you can deactivate the code to preserve the activation you are currently on (1 of 8 ) When you deactivate you get a number like 123456:0001. You can do this so you stay on your first activation. Eg Activate the code 123456 (1 of 8 activations used) Deactivate 123456, receive deactivation code 123456:0001 -Format, re-install OS, install Black Shark. Activate using 123456:0001 (still only 1 of 8 activation used) -Need to reinstall windows..... Deactivate 123456:0001, receive deactivation code 123456:0002 Format, re-install OS, install Black Shark. Activate using 123456:0002 (still only 1 of 8 activation used) -Hard Drive failures, reinstall windows, No deactivation possible Activate using 123456 (2 of 8 activations used) Edit:- It is explained much better in the FAQ --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568704&postcount=3 Nate Edited April 15, 2010 by ShadowVonChadwick RyZen5 3600x, MSI GamingX RX 5700xt, AX-370-K7, 16 Gig G-Skil 3200 , Antec 650w (Still),Win10 on 256G 870 NVMe, 860+850 Evo for Apps, 2x1TB WD HDs for :music_whistling:, TR5 :detective:, Hog stick:joystick:, 3x TM MFD Bezels. a 32" AOC, @ 2560x1440, no floppy & a crappy chair :pain:.
