In FC1, if the server set up the option for no recovery, then when a client/player needed to respawn, that player actually exited the 3D environment. When they loaded back in, things like wreckage were cleared from memory. Now in FC2 when a client respawns, he never leaves the 3D environment. If a client flies for an hour or 2, then all the 3D objects for plane/ground unit wreckage builds up, until finally their sim starts getting low FPS.

I thought that in FC1 the accumulation of wreckage etc. was known to build up in memory, yet now respawning aircraft do not flush the memory of these objects. I recommend when flying on a server for extended periods that clients actually disconnect from the server occasionly (every hour) and rejoin to clear up memory.

I guess reconnecting and disconnecting form a server will throw people off becasue you would loose your in-game score. Would be nice to have a player forced to reload the 3D enviroment maybe upon respawing like FC1.

It is really high level bug in LO. Many people noticed this, game is not playable after hour especially when there are many players. It should have been fixed already.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

I'll try to bring some more attention to this. I reported it already in early betas.

S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'

When the 104th server has 40 people in it, the runways become a huge mess. Either intentionally or by error, the airbases will become cluttered with debris and become unusable quickly. It is a real showstopper.

Hopefully something can be done easily.

I have flown in the 104th for a while and my fps were always good. I like that wreckage stays in the game. There is nothing like going to a base and disabling the runway only to have the guy respawn and everything is fine for him, but you still see bomb holes on the runway. How would it throw people off cause their in-game score is reset? What do you mean by that?

If you exit the server to clear the debris then reconnect, your in-game score will be reset.

Yeah we can recognize them by example "hey where are my points for last kill?!"

And through the huge-salvo launches to get multiple "kills" on the same target.

I got two kills on GG that way, when he was my wing lead. Take that! :D

The best must have been one of the other testers killing me this weekend.

One strafe, resulted in 42 A/C kills using the guns and 2100 in score.

I feel like a price-turkey. I'm the golden pig - which can fly btw.

Although your concerns are related to performance issues, I see another problem. If player disconnects and reconnects, he will loose "history" of destroyed objects. What is the point of doing OCA strike if player gets "repaired" runway just by reconnecting.

He said you were good

I am suprised you are still alive in 44th :D

There is no such point :D

Seriously it is waste of time trying to damage runway.

It was a direct order to make the shot, so he found it hard to complain. :P (I didn't actually aim at him - he had quite a few people gunning for him, but I lost lock while the 120's were still in semi and they just went for whatever they could see...)

We are derailing though.

A question for Crunch tho - have you seen performance degradation only related to the time a client spends connected, or does the same affect the server itself?

You miss the point. It is a good idea to have destroyed runways sure, but there are the negatives of not being able to use runways because of friendly crashes, and even worse, your FPS will drop as debris builds up. Play on a busy server and you'll see what I mean.

While I have no hard numbers, I suspect that it effects clients and the server.
