Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? In the F-15 campaign, my wingmen keep nailing me with AIM-120s.

I have a tough enough time dealing with the flankers, I could do without worrying about missiles coming from right behind me :huh: .

Happend to me also, mostly when you have ECM on, and he fires HOJ.

Don't get into a position where you are in front of a friendly shooter. Similarly, don't shoot if you have friendlies ahead of you. HOJing or pitbull/maddog 120's can go for a friendly almost as easy as an AIM-9 can.

That's rather obvious. The trouble is that I'm flight lead with 3 AI wingmen who don't really seem to care where I am in relation to them when they launch. I guess you're suggesting that I take immediate evasive action from my wingmen at the start of an engagement?

Try using the formation management communication commands. Spread your flight out a bit more and/or order them to 'Pincer' (I can not remember the exact term in the communication options) which provides an offset up, down left or right.

Things which do you no good in aviation:

1) Altitude above you;

2) Runway behind you;

3) Fuel in the truck;

4) The airspeed you don't have.

Hmm, in all of my testing of F-15 missions, I don't think I've been hit by wingmen once. Normally, as soon as they recieve a command to engage, they tend to pull up and off and this is enough separation to avoid an incident. I'm curious about your engagement process and what you do differently that results in your being in front.

Well it happened twice on mission 3 pretty much the same way. sent 3 and 4 to engage, told 2 to cover me, I launched 2 AIMs, turned perpendicular to the incoming fighters, 2 launched an AIM at me.

Ah, forgot to read the title. Thanks Gary.

I don't think the wingman is purposely targeting and launching AAMRAAM at you and they can't be launching HOJ in close or medium range. And the wingman usually don't let it go maddog. So only thing I can think of is that you just happen to be in the missile's path. This isn't likely to happen in default formation either... have you changed the formation to trail?

Nope, and the missiles are definitely locking me up. You can see them launch towards the bandit then swerve towards me.

Definitely happening with my ECM on though, and in mission 3 the enemies have ECM on too...

I was shotdown once by a 9M right after i killed the last bandit. Pissed me off.... Me and my WM were chansing this one last Mig-23, I was the lead, and he was behind me. We both fired a 9M at the same time, Mine hit the bandit, his killed me.

No problem m8.

But I've noticed that in 1.12 120's loved to go after me when I was jamming; maybe you have ECM on...
