  1. I also got a brand new laptop and a new graphic card. Both the laptop and the desktop with new graphic card was crashing randomly. After a couple days, it went away. Sometimes, new hardware need time to burn in. If the problem persists, try to download some CPU and GPU temperature/load monitoring programs and keep an eye on them. And get a laptop cooler if you haven't already.
  2. I've had this issue with X52 Pro a while back and posted on Saitek forum thinking that there should be simple calibration fix. There wasn't and I was told that it was defect. Had to get a replacement. Not sure if X55 is different but I would ask on Saitek forum.
  3. Closing in on them doesn't sound like a good option on this particular mission as they're behind enemy ground troops and multiple SAM. They eventually come forward but if I wait till then, ally ground troops gets destroyed which actually is the mission goal. I'll try Vikhr at a distance. Thanks.
  4. GoW 10th mission. ATO B.P3.3 is the mission title. There are 3 Apache in the mission area that are killing me every time. I dealt with one that's flying around by himself using my wingman but the two that are flying in formation... I'm not sure what to do. I tried charging in, Hellfire. I tried Vikhr, Hellfire. I tried taking cover behind ally ground troops hoping they can take it down but no luck. They get wiped out first. Any advice would be appreciated.
  5. Maybe I don't understand how the search works on this forum but I did a search with those keywords in the title and nothing comes up. I have dual monitor setup with Shkval on the right monitor. Works well. But when I turn on the night goggles, the main window stretches to both monitor with Shkval overlayed on the right monitor. So I get half of the cockpit on my main monitor and Shkval on the right. Version 1.0.2 Any way to fix this?
  6. Thanks for clearing that up. I tried your settings and I had to set far clip to 180,000 in order for transparency to be completely gone at 6km. But you said you achieved it with 80,000 far clip? Any idea as to the reason for the difference? Again, all other settings of mine are from Frazer's tweak guide. The building I'm using for testing is the factory looking building right behind the AAA in the quick mission.
  7. Fogparams 1/2 meaning 1 for FogParam1 and 2 for FogParam2? Or 0.5 for both FogParam? Or half the original value? Bit confused. Anyway, I tried all of your settings but not getting any improvement. Still have transparent buildings even at 6km away no matter what values I use for far clip and fogparams. I'm using Frazer's tweaks and is there a setting in there that also conflicts?
  8. Doesn't need to make sense. Editing log file wasn't part of the game design.
  9. Well, I learned a few tricks on how to bug multiple overlapping targets by watching Ironhand's videos. I'm sure you already know that the target you want to bug doesn't have to be completely inside the two vertical lines. It bugs the closest one when you hit designate button so if I want to bug the lead, I move the cursor below so only the top of the cursor is touching the target dot. Then to bug the overlapping trail, I move the cursor up so only the bottom of the cursor is touching the dots. Sometimes moving it to side when there are more than 2. Wish I can illustrate this with screenshot but I'm at work right now. Basically, when there are 4 targets bunched up in large dot, bugging targets with your cursor closely placed at 6, 9, 12, and 3 O'clock positions should get all 4 of them... most of the time. Also, I don't give engage my target command to all of my wingmen while bugging targets in TWS. Because as far as I know, you can't cycle primary in TWS and that will make all 3 of my wingmen go after same target. I'll also go home and check to see if I kept my trk file. I did a re-install and can't remember if I backed up the track files or not.
  10. And now it seems those suggestions were minority. If there are forum threads asking for a features and 50 some people agreeing with it, doesn't mean that's everyone or even the majority. People who thinks its garbage idea wont even respond. Game designs being changed by few that are active on the forums.
  11. Obviously * English for English version of the sim * Russian for Russian version of the sim Not everything has to be 100% realistic and we have to take Russian lessons just to fly on Russian side. And when I'm flying, I like to keep my eyes on the gauges and surrounding environment. Not on reading subtitles. Subtitles sure are not realistic.
  12. Haven't tried this campaign after the patch but I don't think HOJ are effective. Because it can go after the bombers in this particular mission. What I do as soon as burn through is lock one target in STT, order wing 3 to engage my target, launch... and it is important that you don't break lock until wing 3 acknowledges your order. As soon as he confirms the order, break lock, lock up next target, order 4 to engage, I launch, and by now, they already have launched at least 2 missiles at you. Break away and give "cover me" command to wing 2 as you break away. How many direct orders you can give does depend on how fast you can lock up targets and give orders. Using 30 degree radar angle helps as well. 20nm is long distance to cover so there still is time even when you hear the launch warning on TEWS. I never timed it but I think there's good 15 seconds before their missiles reach me. If you've read my AAR, I managed to give engage my target command to each of 3 wingmen plus launch 3 AMRAAMS at 3 different targets even with the AWACS interrupting. And 20nm is also well outside of Rtr of their missile so you can easily evade by simply turning away after you do your thing. Even if their missiles have energy to get near you, it sure will be running low on energy so any simple maneuver will shake them off. Climbing usually works well in this situation as their missiles wont have energy to climb.
  13. Ah... I misread and thought you said "pistols" lol. First batch of missiles you launch, you don't really have to guide them until they go pitbull. Their purpose is to make the Flankers go defensive so your wingmen have better chance of survivial. And they burn through at around 23nm. And they launch around there. You have plenty of time to launch a few missiles and give orders before going defensive. Also you are giving orders to your wing one at a time right? Giving engage bandit command to the entire flight doesn't work... especially on this particular mission.
  14. I just wanted to add that I'm not a veteran either. My flightsim history is rather long but in and out. I'm still very much a rookie and I too had a lot of trouble with this campaign before I found a tactic that works so you're not alone. From you mentioning pistols and bullets, I might advise you to turn on some difficulty settings. There's no shame in that. I started with those on too. And turned them off one by one as I got better. It's better than keep getting frustrated. Also, because it is difficult, the feeling of reward when you complete is great as well. I guarantee it.
  15. I meant to say it's pointless to implement it when its use is pointless. But when building mission, only way to mark a specific unit with the diamond I believe is to place it first. In A-10 campaign, SA-11 north of the ridgeline always has the diamond and it's "Unit #1" in mission editor. And the order you cycle the diamond seems to be related to the order you cycle the external view (F7). I haven't tried it but perhaps re-naming the number of the targets might work? Not sure if ME goes by the name of the target or actual order of placement.
  16. It obviously is not for primary target as it always is placed on the SA-11 in the A-10 campaign. And only way to switch it is to cycle it using the same key used for cycle waypoint. You can only cycle forward and there's no way to designate specific target that's in front of you directly. So if there are 30 some ground threats in the area, you'll have to cycle through all of them. Unless there are very few targets like the quick missions, it's useless feature.
  17. Any experiments to the MFD values at the bottom of graphic.cfg does in the patch?
  18. This would be very helpful. Thanks!
  19. It's a same bug. And Wags said it wont get fixed. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52102&highlight=distance+target
  20. I thought Wags said there's no plan to fix HSI range freezing bug because it is deep code issue.
  21. Try the mods section http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51527
  22. Make sure you didn't edit the LOD setting for military objects. Some FPS tweak settings reduce these values and I really had hard time identifying targets before I realized this. In some way, you can go opposite way on some LOD settings to enhance their visibility. Also setting the Res of cockpit displays higher will help you identify targets on your Mav IR display better. I was using 256 to save frame rate and all ground units looked the same even at 2nm. After switching to 1024, I can correctly identify targets on display from 5nm away. And don't even notice the difference in frame rate between 256 and 1024.
