159th_Viper Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 How do i stop mp mission hijack? You referring to a third party 'using' your mission without prior consent? If so, there is a way that Missions can be 'protected' in Black Shark - don't see why it will not find applicability In FC2. I'll see if I can find the thread/info for you, unless someone else has it handy (Panzer might know off-hand :) ) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Grimes Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Viper may be referring to the method where you basically change all of the latitude and longitude values within the mission text file. Thus making the mission useless if someone wants to edit it in the mission editor. However I don't think that can stop someone from downloading and just using the mission with out editing it. Your best bet is if you see your mission online hosted by someone else, just contact them and ask em not to do it again. I'm quite sure most will comply. -Painter- Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 For what reason you do not want someone else hosting your missions? Why not taking it as a compliment! If your mission where bad, nobody would be interested in it ;) I think when you see your mission on a number of servers, you see that the work designing it was it worth. ;) The whole Multiplayer-Community is thankfully to the mission designers who spend their time and work in creating the missions and spending them to the community. They are not only thankfully; they depend on such guys! Regards REAPER 31 | Painter [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Grimes Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 2 Points. 1. Many missions are developed for specific servers. The idea being "this is our server and this is a mission associated with it" 2. What fun is it if every server is running the same mission 24/7? Dont get me wrong, many many games have maps I can play all day, but there becomes a point where you just can't stand it. If we had 10x the player base of what we do now, I'd be all for it, since it would pretty much be required. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
