Jps Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 So, I've been flying BS for a few days with a new joystick (X52 Pro). I'm now experiencing a problem in the first Campaign mission, Deployment 1. When I take off, turn to 200 manually and soon engage the Route mode (DH-DT switch at center, so it takes the current flight profile) and trim, the heli starts to fly straight at constant speed and heading, as it should. However, when I disengage the Route mode (by pressing R), I am no longer in control of the helicopter. Moving my joystick in any direction makes no difference in the helicopter, and neither does taking the Hdg hold mode off. Pressing the Trimmer makes the heli turn sligtly right, and pressing again just increases the turn, eventually leading to crash in the ground, when the heli can't maintain altitude even at max power. Also, this problem does not occur otherwise, ie. in the Enroute navigation - training mission. So, is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the answer!
Bucic Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 First confirm that the route mode has actually been disengaged by checking the corresponding lights. Plus you may wait another 20 posts to get your answer or... post a track file and get your answer in no time :) F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
Jps Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Yes, I have confirmed the Route mode to be disengaged, both from the lights, and then from the HUD, which is showing the speed scale from 0-500 instead of speed deviation. So, here's the track file. Don't know if it's of any use... Anyways, making this, I had a new error: after pressing trim (with no autopilot except dampenings on) the first time, I was unable to control the heli. The cyclic didn't move even though I rammed my joystick. After maybe 10 s I got the controls back. So, I continued the flight, engaged course and hdg Routes, and when disengaging these, the same thing occured again. No control input... I tried pressing trim all the time, but to no avail. http://uploadfile.org/download.php?id=vGMfKetUiktl7j51JCD2 Hope you can sort out something out this, and thanks for helping.
Bucic Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Are you aware of the new trim implementation introduced with the 1.0.1 patch? Read about it in the patch readme. Can it be the source of your problem? Also include information in which version of Black Shark the track has been recorded. 1.0.2 is out so there will be very few people using 1.0.1 in a matter of hours :) F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
Jps Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 I've checked the list before, but didn't exactly remember how it was changed... Also, thanks for pointing out to patch 1.02. I've noticed a thread about it before, but thought it was the same patch I donwloaded a week ago (1.01). Now, thanks to rechecking that, I found the problem: When my joystick is at neutral, the BS is getting some input on right pedal (yaw), thus leading to that when my joystick is centered, the heli is yawing right, and so the controls never were centered and not working. Apparently, I have regained the control after I've applied enough left rudder to center the controls in BS. However, this leads to a new problem, since in my control properties outside of BS all the controls are centered. So, where is the BS getting the input for right pedal and can this be helped?
Distiler Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Something with force feedback perhaps? (a wheel?) Set forcefeedback to false in /config/producer.cfg AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Jps Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Already set. So that's not causing it, unless it should be on, which I doubt, since I don't have FF... And what do you mean by wheel? I only have X52 Pro.
Bucic Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Joy not in the center? Check it again in Options - Controls ... http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13444620&postcount=228 For troubleshooting purposes it's best to check the response there. Additionally http://www.simhq.com/_air12/air_390f.html And read the GUI manual. Distiler Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 The problem is that right pedal. The new trim implementation checks that you physically center the joy (and pedal) after trimming, and if you don't then there is no input from joy (and pedal). Clear the axis for pedals and re-set them. Also, update to 1.0.2 AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Jps Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Ok, got around this problem as well, set deadzone for rudder to 30%. And because this solved it, I assume it's somehow caused by the joystick, although in every other game it's centered... And thanks for everyone who helped!

Jps Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Yeah, well, Like I said, DZ was a quick resort. Currently, don't fancy on spending yet more hours on trying to get it right without spending any time in the cockpit...
Frederf Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 It very much sounds like you have selected (or patching has changed your settings for you to default) "Center trimmer method" in options. This trimmer method requires that you recenter your controls to a small window before control input is re-enabled. It's perfectly fine to play with this feature off which is how the game was at version 1.0.

The thing was, that I got a new joystick, and installed the patch at the same time. Now, it would have worked fine, but for some reason the BS right rudder was getting some input, so my controls weren't centered even when my joystick was, so after pressing the trimmer the controls never centered and this didn't allow the control. I've now adjusted dead zone for rudder and taken the recenter-trim off, and it's now working fine. Thanks to all who helped!
