I notice whenever I set the resolution of the included avi record feature in the editor it breaks the .ogv output video. This only occurs with the resolution tool, no other option breaks the output video except for this.

I _need_ to know whether there is some fix I don't know about for this (I already tried editing the record_avi.lua resolution lines in Ka-50\BlackShark\modules directory)? Is there perhaps some way to change the output codec?

edit: Cool. Looks like the ever-smart ED team included a commented out an ability to directly output raw .avi files. That's getting close to what I'm looking for - however the files are quite large. How does the record avi feature handle codecs? Is there any way I could use a .dll from another codec to encode with?

You can change resolution to whatever you like (and whatever works with you graphics driver).

It should work.

If it is not, please, provide a test case (i.e. a track and video record params).

Yes, there's an option to write uncompressed AVI files. The option is hidden, it produces huge files and does not write index. So, it's considered a power-user feature ;)

There's no way to select a codec from the system.

We had enough headache with broken codecs.

Has this feature been limited since DCS BS 1.0? There's only Theora+Vorbis and PNG sequence + WAV to choose from

Edit:

Why did I ask that question when the answer is just above? Have you edited your post, c0ff? :)

Anyway, a new question - is there a way to restore the previous ability of that feature to work with many codecs installed on the system as long as users who would use that would agree to 'at your own risk' policy?
