Tangolima600 Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Just as the title says, thinking about paying $150 for the newest version. Specs seem very nice, but is the performance that much better?
Tangolima600 Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 I do have the V4, should of clarified that at first.
Frederf Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I wouldn't upgrade from a v4 to a v5. I bought a v5 and it's great, much better than all the freetrack/cachya solutions (esp. since I'm on Win7-64).
Icarus2 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 If ver. 4 is working well do not bother. I had ver. 4 and it worked just fine. I now have ver. 5 because I broke the old one. Yes ver. 5 is smoother and has less room light issues, but I would never have upgraded if it wasn't broken.
sweinhart3 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 If your using Blackshark or a sim with clickable cockpits then TIR 5 is better. I find it to be much smoother when your trying to focus on one spot like a switch. It has higher resolution so it can sense smaller head movements and is less jerky. Also as stated earlier it is much less sensitive to surrounding light. When the sun was shinig in my room it made TIR4 completely unuseable but since I upgraded it hasnt been a problem at all. I wold recommend it. For non clickable cockpits its not as big a deal. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
