Win 7 here and absolutely no crash with FC 2.0. A lot more stable. If you own BS, then you will have the same stability as there.

Ps: no need for compatibility mod

Well I own LOMAC and LOMAC Flaming Cliffs ,but not BS. So are you saying that FC 2 willl fix this crashing problem, or not since you say no compatibility mode. Can you be a little more specific?

Ever since getting LOMAC, the original, I've always had problems with the program crashing. So I'd like to know will LOMAC FC 2 allow the program to run in Vista without any problems since it'll be compatable with it? Or will i still have a crashing problem?

I've used LOMAC in Win 98/ME compatability mode, and partially worked.

Hi Shackman

I run FC2 in vista and speaking for myself have had no problems whatsoever

( other than a 90% rise in getting my a** handed to me from ground defences in the Su25..........lol )

And if you do have some problems(and as I am sure you know) this forum is alive with guys willing to spend time to help you, so Id give it a go.

Ok I believe I will. I guess the crashing is because I'm running the original LOMAC on Vista, and they don't like each other. But with a LOMAC compatible with Vista I think would work. And you don't need the first FC or BS to run FC2, you can run it from the original LOMAC right?

Would you agree the reason for the crashing is that the first is an older program, but this is much much newer?:(

I played also FC 1.12 with w7, and had a lot of crashes. But with FC 2.0 they are completely gone. I think this is one of the good things about FC 2.0. Performance, comparable with 1.12, in some points better in some others (like Su-25 shkval) worse.

I meant there is no need to play FC 2.0 in compatibility mode.

Well thats great news, finally Eagle Dynamics has made a stable LOMAC. Thanks for the help guys, and if I have a problem with FC 2 then I'll come back here and post it.

IYO do you think it's better to get a disk and manual or just download? You run the risk of a pc crash if you download but can keep it with a disk?

If you purchase the digital download version from lockon.co.uk and lose your install files in a crash, all you have to do is re-download from that site. Both disc and download use the same protection system.

In my opinion the main advantage of the DVD version is for those who have dialup connections or very very slow connections, or connections that have a maximum download amount per month.

The mission format is completely different, so you can't play LOMAC or FC1 missions in FC2. There are campaigns for each of the aircraft (as well as a bunch of single missions), but not having played the older Lock On I don't know how similar they are.

Just out of curiosity, I remember not too far back running FC 1.1 and installing the patches and running FC with patch 1.1b and 1.12b installed. And sometimes even then as ED says it's compatible with Vista, http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1605&scr=default, it still crashed as did the original.

So I'm just wondering is LOMAC FC 2 more stable with Vista because it was designed with Vista from the roots, and FC wasn't but just happened to have Vista added on as a patch and patches sometimes don't work? I've always been curious about this question.
