Ramstein Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Fighter tactics when using an AI Wingman Questions: When I take off in an F-15 with an AI Wigman, and I engage a bandit... do I have to spoon feed engage commands or can I can have him engage the enemy from the get-go without spelling it out to him? Reason why I ask is because my AI wingman dumber than a box of rocks unless I tell him to engage.. :joystick: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
asparagin Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 You can sent him to "engage bandits" and he will attack the nearest one (detected). I prefer to sent him on a specific target, because like this I can coordinate a bit the attacks (I take the other one). I also call for regroup often so that they don't get killed when outnumbered. nomdeplume Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Have you tried setting him to 'cover you'? Might be worthwhile if you want to be hands-off. But IRL, pilots communicate with each other constantly to coordinate attacks, and the AI is even less likely to have ESP and guess what you want them to do than a human you've been training with for months/years. So, I think it's reasonable to expect to have to tell them what to engage. Also bear in mind that you can only play as the flight lead in ED's games, so naturally the work of coordinating the flight falls on to you.
