Krebs20 Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 (edited) I started my insanity this weekend, YAY. I did not finish. But heres a story of the start of it. WIP I got a load of wood from my work for 20$ Nothing like an old farm truck hauling some wood. I started by ripping a bunch of the wood down to 1x1 boards. I just find that it was an easy size to work with. I picked up a bucket seat out of a Dodge caravan for 20$ from a coworker. Built a left and right console for it. Gave it a top. And build a front end. I did not like how the front turned out. I might build it again. No shortage of supplies. I put a base coat on the left/right consoles. Thats all the farther I got this weekend. Ill get back to it again during the 4th holiday. More skins to cut out and a complete paint job. I dont want to show the skeleton from any angel when its complete. Sorry for the fuzzy photos. I was using my cell phone. Ill get some better ones when its not all naked and half dressed. Cost Wood 2x3s 20$ Plywood Sheet 4x8 21$ Car seat 20$ Hardware cost 15$ Total 76$ not a bad start. Links didn't take. Will fix. Edited June 30, 2010 by Krebs20 Pics 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Krebs20 Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 I found myself with a few hours this morning. So I ripped open my old Gamepad and got the leeds made up. I can get 10 funtions out of it. More importantly, I can put On/off switches on it without much difficulty. Also shown are a bag of Momentary (on) off (on) switches. I know I will be getting use out of them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Maximus Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Nice!!. Wish i had a load of those woods :P Maximus, The only real Maximus in DCS World. :music_whistling: I am not associated to viper 33 | Maximus. he is the imposter.

DTWD Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 God I hate you...a garage space like and all that wood...that is man heaven! Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Krebs20 Posted July 4, 2010 Author Posted July 4, 2010 More button! I am honestly afraid of the complex rigs people making. I have a decent knowledge of how they work. However that just puts them out of my reach in terms of technical skill. I'm just taking baby steps. But if know some easy stuff to hack apart. I'm game. Note I have a very special use for a keyboard later on. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Krebs20 Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 I was bringing my controls to the shed to work on them when disaster stuck. My CH pro peddles were sitting on the bench and I bumped them off. In order to "save" them, I grabbed the cable just before it hit the ground. I ripped the cable clean out along with the little switch. I thought hey this isn't so bad. I can mod them to get the toe brakes to work. " it was the older db15 style" Turns out the CH makers decided to only run the wires needed in the cable and you cannot complete the mod, See picture. Anyone have a DB15 Cable for sale? There some on the web for 4 dollars. I might use this as a reason to buy new peddles, but i want to spend money on things that are of need. Not to replace something that can be fixed. Delays. Delays. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Scudslaker Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 i ll make a thread later on my switch solution,..it is verry easy, comfortable to programme, able to connect 128 buttons with 3 functions each by 3 modes!) i build a datalink panel and some weapons control panel for DCS, yet. my layout for the i/o boardis modular .. i ll attach a pic of the selfmade pcb and the two first prototyped modules!) so have a look on it, it s quite easy..the KEYWARRIORs i have still some in stock for cheap money..and the rest costs around 5 euro, apart from the buttons and switches!) :joystick: TM HOTAS WH :joystick:, Saitek Pro Pedals, Track IR 4, 2xJoyWarrier, 1x KeyWarrior, i52500k @4600MHz, ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, NV 670GT, SSD+ WD BC+ WD Raptor, 32HD:pilotfly:[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Krebs20 Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) It took me about 20mins to figure out where a switch went in your pics. Im not the greatest is tech skills. After messing with my damn pro pedals, I'm convinced that I should stick with what I know. That is ripping things apart I know work in the 1st place. Then making them do what i want them to do. My pedals are still a disaster. I looked for about 6 hours in town for a place that had a DB15 cable for sale. No luck. On my way home I stopped at a friends house. He had an old Logitec Wingman joystick. He gave it to me and I went to work with it. I have the pedals recognize by the Cougar control panel. But they do not move any of the axes. I was too confident in my work and I put all my screws back in the pedals. I'm going to bed now. Ill tear it open again tomorrow. BTW I decided to pain the outside of the cockpit Camouflage. Here's a pic. I think it looks pretty good. But the real judge will be tomorrow. If my friend laughs at it, It will be flat army green in about 20 mins. Its almost ready to bring indoors. Then I can really start the wiring part. I cannot get this photo to load. heres the link to it. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0Xmrov9PaCwY2RjYzcwNzUtOGNhMS00NGY4LTg1MWQtODUxNTYxYzYxNDNm&sort=name&layout=list&num=50 Edited July 6, 2010 by Krebs20 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Krebs20 Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 My friend didnt laugh at the paint. So now I will give it some teeth. :shifty: Ill update soon. Its almost ready to be brought in the house for some flight test. I came the conclusion that I would prolly build the whole thing over again and make a drawing 1st. Or at least some sort of formal plans. But its version 1. Ill worry about my next one when I have a bigger room to put it in. This one can fit threw a 30 inch door and make it up 3 flights of stairs. If I build another one its going in the basement. When I finish the basement. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Scudslaker Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 why to laugh about it!) don t worry. but your thoughts are correct, to make concrete plans on what you do is best way. for me the most important fact on building anything is documentation on it!) so i think you re on the right way, sometimes i just think to long about one issue and i break myself off..so just keep on realizing ideas within 3 days, else you won t start doing it!) Krebs20 Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 I guess I'm going to dig up my thread from the grave. Added some updated photos. I got a new TV and other varies tweaks. I cannot get DCS A-10c to run without constant CTD, I hope a new pc will solve that later next month. The old controler works well. I extended my Cougar. Works well. Just have to come up with a better mounting. Multi-Screen working well in Blackshark. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
