Renato71 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Hi, My squaddies are planing some FC2 LAN party during airshow, and later some LAN competitions and other shows(offs). We would like to set up players so they don't have external views or padlock (Ace settings), but we would like to have one PC to display live action for audience, on a big monitor/screen. We would like to avoid using pic from server, rather to connect another PC just for this purpose. Any ideas how to do that? I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets. Contact via PM.

Renato71 Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 try this http://www.livestream.com/ What does that do? Will I be able to display external views for various planes? Thats the whole point (forgot to mention, sry). I do not want to display only cockpit view, but also external, padlock, map... but for audience only, not for players! 104th_Crunch Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 There is no way you can have the server run the mission with externals on and clients with them off that I can think of. You could have someone try to follow the action with the numpad keys from the airport view.
Moa Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Yeah, would be a nice feature if server could show externals and map but clients can't, but LockOn cannot do this. However, if the players can see externals on the BIG screen what would be the point in disabling externals on their own machines? When doing a demo it is worth enabling externals to get the "oooh factor" from the crowd - probably worth more than having a strict tournament. One thing you could do as an alternative, put TacView from the server on the big screen although this might be a bit too abstract for the crowd (and is also still problematic if the players can see it). If you have a display KVM you could switch between TacView and live externals. That would be pretty impressive. Edit: Does anyone know whether the viewer/camera view position can be scripted? That way you could script the server's F11 view to follow an aircraft using data export since an aircraft's position is well known (although players could also cheat by using this). Nate--IRL-- Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Can Tacview be run in real time? That'd be pretty cool. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Renato71 Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Thanks for replies! Tower view is too hard to do. No go :( Maybe to allow externals, but to disable keypads on clients? Some players will bring their own PC's, but I hope there will be few PC's arranged by show organizer. I think we could spend some time on deleted those commands? If so, to make it a precise cleaning, I would like to use application to search and find for certain strings. But, what strings I should be looking for? We plan that players will be seated in a way that they will not be able to see big screen. They will be separated, like in a small booths, probably from cardboard, nothing fancy. Anyway, its all under negotiation at this moment, and there could be only one or two regular monitors, no wall screen. But I hope we could borrow a decent projector. I know that Tacview can be run in real time - I've read that here, but I was never able to make it work. At least, not with regular scripts that come with tacview. It may be abstract, but come to think of it it, it would be pretty cool to have it in real time for this purpose. In a way, it may be much easier to follow the action and to use it to pinpoint most interesting external views? We will have tacview and other scripts enabled, leavu, lovp, lotatc... in case hardware will permit those. I have no plans for live streaming over internet for now. I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. 104th_Crunch Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Could you you not just go by a gentleman's agreement, since you will all be together, and ask that no one use externals except the server?
Renato71 Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Could you you not just go by a gentleman's agreement, since you will all be together, and ask that no one use externals except the server? Naturally that I could do it, but - you know - there are gentlemen, and there are gentlemen... I don't think we will have resources to organize enough umpires that will run between players, checking up on their monitors. I would like to avoid any chance of cheating, intentional or otherwise. Maybe with some LUA script that will disable those views? And this thing with tacview sounds interesting cos you don't have to install FC2 (for many reasons, I will have to make sure all FC2/DCS copies are legal). Or, to disable those keycommands on clients? I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets. Contact via PM.
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 You could make a custom Default.lua and Keyboard.lua, for all to use, without those commands. Doesn't preclude them from having views mapped to their Hotas though. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Renato71 Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Yeah, but there are 10 aircraft, and I hate messing around with those files. And what if someone remapped some "regular" keys? And they don't have hotas? I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets. Contact via PM.
